Known for his original style and laid back vibe, Michael Dean is slated to become a player in 21st century ambient/down-tempo music.

Michael was born and raised in Northern California. He spent his early years focused on playing sports and studying both drums and piano throughout school. At age 8, Dean formed a love for Jazz, and started writing songs, while playing his great-grandmother's piano, a 1921 Chicago Cable Company Wellington. Inspired by a variety of groups across varying genres, he learned to play by ear by listening and practicing endless hours. At age 9, in addition to his time behind the keys, he began studying percussion under both Mr. Kenneth Smith and Mr. Ken Ilusorio.

In Jr. High and High School, Michael studied percussion under Mr. Kenneth Smith once again, and under Mr. Frank Bigoski III. During college, Michael put his drums aside and piano bench away, and focused on working towards his career.

After spending time professionally in the investment banking industry, he decided to get back to his musical roots. He was able to support his family at a desk job by day, but could not ignore his calling.

After living in Dallas for 9 years, Dean quit his job with JPMorgan, and returned to his native California to pursue his music. The last couple of years have been spent in his home studio, grinding away into the wee hours of the morning.

Upon moving back to his hometown of Vallejo, he invested a great deal of time and effort to his passion. Since February 2007, he has written over 120 songs. Both "Mount Veeder" (2007) and "Momentary Bliss" (2008) quickly soared to Number 1 on Soundclick.com – sealing his place as one of Northern California's best unsigned ambient artists.

Michael is currently working on a studio album, as well as many collaborations with artists around the world.

Feel free to drop him a line anytime, and he is sure to respond.
