Started in beautiful tropical Port Douglas where Cale, Steve and Brad got musical together after a few shows in Cairns and playing the Karanda little day out they soon started realizing there was not much of a music industry in FNQ so they jumped out off thier hammocks and moved to the suthern suburbs of Sydney at the end of 99 going under the name Breen.



Snapping up Woody (Drums) was a gruelling 7 month search, the boys tried out alot of interesting drummers, "Some" says Steve (Vox) "Who should not be allowed near a drum kit EVER AGAIN! it was embaracing and a horrible experience to watch most of them" says Steve.

Then a guy named Woody responded to the add who by the way rocked up to the trial with a suit and tie fresh from a hard day at the office, first impressions were shocking! to all! but soon faded after a couple of songs, "Soon as he bashed into his groove we found our guy!"



Torch (keys) joined after hearing a demo 8 months later after splitting with his band The Crown which he fronted and by 2001 Breen where giging around Sydney.



The name change came in mid 2003 for reasons they can not explain.



In mid 2004 the band were invited to play on a reality tv show called The Resort hosted by Jon Stevens from Noise Works.

Jon took a curious liking to DS and helped them out with what he could.



The next destination was beautiful Canne, France for MIDEM where they show cased for Amped music @ the Martinez Ball Room in front of a thousand industry people from all over the world, DS made some noise that night and the response was over whelming with opportunities, which is how, if you read further, the I Spy Deal came about.



After a few managment changes the band have now signed a deal with I Spy Records the owner of the company Harris Meitanis had seen the bands set in Canne and was blown away with everyone else in the room but didn't pursue as he was under the impression that they were signed already, as did most at MIDEM unfortunatly.



A few months later he found the truth that Dreamshifter were under no legal contract he immediatley singed the boys and flew them to New York where they show cased for Indie and Major American labels.
