DREAD (2K4-2K7) R.I.P.

DREAD is a kick-ass no bull metal band from Montreal, Canada. They are known for their engaging lyrics and super High Energy concerts. If this band can't get mosh pits going, the crowd has no pulse!



DREAD is essentially the evolution of the band "BarKode" which formed in 1999. The band released their self-produced debut album, "Are We Just Slaves?" on Kafka Records in 2001. The band performed over 75 shows under that name. They appeared twice on the prestigious Polliwog festival and performed alonside bands like In Flames, Kataklysm and Anonymus, among others when not headlining their own shows.



In 2004, guitarist/vocalist/producer JEF and bass player BILL wanted to improve their live show dramatically, that meant recruiting new members. DAN BERN, the drummer with endless energy, and formerly from the band HankeyPank was their first choice. The addition of RICK, the raunchy vocalist from Burn Unit completed the new formation. The addition of a new vocalist allowed JEF to write and perform the intricate guitar riffs that he is capable of without being stuck behind a mic.



With the unification of leading members from three different bands, a new name had to be found. The name DREAD was chosen for their collective fear of becoming leaches of society.



DREAD's ultimate goal is to share its high energy music and positive vision with as many people as possible. If there were people on the moon, to see the band, DREAD will be there!
