Bettye Ransom Nelson, a dynamic woman of God who sings and ministers under the anointing and auspices of the Holy Ghost is a seasoned veteran in the gospel music industry. A native of Houston, Texas and one of six children, she is currently the President of the international Women's Choir of the Church of God In Christ. Having a love for children, Evangelist Nelson organized the first National Children's choir in the National Music Department. Bettye Ransom Nelson a devoted mother six children and for twenty-eight years the wife of Bishop A.C. Nelson, Pastor of Nelson Memorial Pentecostal Church of God In Christ, has dedicated her life to working in the Kingdom of God. Her desire and eagerness to please God, led her on the path to be entreated and taught by the Church of God In Christ's most well known woman of God, Dr. Matte Moss Clark, whom she faithfully served for over twenty-five years.
The past two decades have tested and proven Bettye Ransom nelsom to be a "True Soldier" in the army of the Lord. In the year of 1982, she was physically attacked with chronic asthma. Eight years later in 1990, she, her husband, and several children were in a tragic automobile accident where Pastor Nelson suffered severe head injuries resulting in 68 stitches, crushed legs and feet. Evangelist Nelson suffered facial and neck injuries, where her flesh was torn under her neck and half of her face. She also suffered a broken collarbone, of which half is presently under her flesh. To top this off, because of the worsening condition of her asthma, Evangelist Nelson was diagnosed as a definite chronic asthmatic. 40,000 saints would band together to pray for the Nelson's at a time when they would need it most. Prayers would continue to go up as doctors would diagnose a portion of Evangelist Nelson's lung to be non-functional, therefore leaving her to function on only one lung. To say the least, Bettye Ransom Nelson has been tried by the fire and is a testimony that the prayers of the righteous avail much. A medical phenomenon, and a breathtaking miracle, there is no doubt that Bettye Ransom Nelsom has a message to share with the world. Bettye Ransom Nelson has literally lived the songs she sings about. Her anointing has come through pain and suffering, but most of all victory.
In the 80's Evangelist Nelson recorded a production entitled "My Heart Belongs To You." She has been produced on several gospel projects throughout the country such as the National Church of God In Christ's recordings and well-known Bishop T.D. Jakes. Receiving numerous requests to sing at conventions and conferences such as Bishop T. D. Jakes' Conference and the Azuza Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this amazing woman of God has overcome all natural odds and has allowed God to use her through the gift of song. If asked, whose report does she believe? Bettye Nelson would tell you that she really does believe the report of the Lord. Although, physicians believed Evangelist Nelson could not, would not and should not try to sing again, prayers, determination and standing on the Word of God have strengthened and pushed Betty Nelson to continue doing all that God has called her to do. Her vocal range would leave physicians astonished and bewildered.
