Hooks, harmonies, and clever words are the trademark of Doug Jones’ first solo effort, “Doug Jones Everybody, Doug Jones”. The former lead singer and contributing songwriter for the SC band, Cravin’ Melon (Mercury Records), Jones enlists the help of many of his musical friends. Mark Bryan (Hootie and the Blowfish) produces and plays on the project as well as fellow Hootie percussionist and Melon drummer, Gary Greene. Other players include Hank Futch (The Blue Dogs-bass), Matt Mayes (Jupiter Coyote-banjo), and Jonathan Williams (Pat Mcgee Band-keyboards). Recorded at Bryan’s Stone Point studio in Awendaw, SC, “Doug Jones Everybody,…” takes the listener on a musical journey from mountain to beach and places in between. Doug’s songwriting and characteristic soulful voice have never been better than on this dynamic batch of tunes, leaving you with songs stuck in your head for days. A slight departure from the pop country rock of Cravin’ Melon, Jones’ solo material is what he calls “coffee outhouse music”. Philosophical fertilizer for your soul, the ’08 release “Doug Jones Everybody, Doug Jones” gives every emotion a chance to stir and every toe a reason to tap. Éclat in Éflat!
