New Orleans born and bred, singer/songwriter Doug Baron has been making music ever since he first fell in love with the guitar on Mardi Gras Day, his sixth birthday. A life changing birthday gift, indeed!
Coming from a musical family, Doug grew up surrounded by all different kinds of music, having an uncle slapping the bass in one band and another uncle pounding the keys on a baby grand. Though that unique New Orleans flavor pulses through his blood, over the years, Baron has developed and grown as an artist with his own distinct sound and voice.
As a songwriter, Doug creates songs that are melodic stories with lyrics that stand alone as poetry through his gift of "painting with words." Influenced by such artists as Bernie Taupin, Keane, Joni Mitchell, Aimee Mann, Stevie Nicks, Peter Gabriel and Cat Stevens, Baron’s songs skate past the superficial and dig deep into the soul.
He has toured and recorded with - and is sought out by - some of the best in the business, including legends, Bruce Springsteen, Roy Orbison, Luther Vandross, Tammy Wynette and producers Richard Davis (Eagles, (Wendy and Lisa) and *Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, Airborne Toxic Event, Everclear, The Wallflowers, and the Plain White T's.).
Baron and Davis have been writing, playing and recording music together since they were kids growing up in New Orleans. Davis co-produced the Eagles' record "Long Road Out Of Eden" and Alanis Morissette's "Feast on Scraps".
“From the opening line, "Don't say a word.Shhhhh." you are captured. Doug has a lot to say - in the album, "THE BLUE". He takes you on a journey through his life - the ups and the downs of discovering his way. You will find many
similarities in his life and yours through his music. "Scarecrow" is a dark, mystical memory of a lost relationship. Baron's songs can be interpreted in very personal ways, which is what makes his music and songwriting so prolific.
I went to iTunes to buy his album, and I have no regrets!”
