DOT/COMMA was born in Catania, a city at the foot of Mount Etna, from Sicilian father and Maltese mother. It is exactly from this combination of complex and ancient traits that such a many-sided personality has originated and grown. Determination, tenacity, humility. But above all he has talent, and he wants to show it. As early as a child he began cultivating his passion for music, especially for singing. Helped also by the talent transmitted to him by his mother, a singer with extraordinary vocal skills, he soon became aware of his gift, until making it a substantial part of his life.
Since he was 8 he has studied the piano, but at the age of 15 he stopped in order to focus on the “instrument” with which his potential can best be expressed: the voice. It is at 14 that he has taken his first steps in the field of composition. From that moment on he has had a continuous growth which has led him to his present achievements. Since 1993, indeed, his daily life and his professional life as author and composer have gone hand in hand. Not even one single day has passed without trying to sharpen his gift. At 16 he started collaborating with some guys on projects ranging from hip-hop to rock and electronic music. However, his style clearly leaves space to his R&B origins, his favourite music genre.
Since he was 20 music has become nearly a profession for him and people have started to appreciate his gift. Soon after, however, he had to make the painful but necessary decision to give up the idea of forming a band, as the viewpoints of his mates were too heterogeneous. From that moment he has dedicated himself to projects as solo singer and composer.
At 24 he moved to Milan to try to climb the ladder of success in the music market, in a context which is undoubtedly more favourable compared to that of the island where he originally comes from. In this city, indeed, he met people who noticed his talent and did not miss the chance to make the most out of it. In fact, it is in such a stimulating environment that the first relevant collaboration has originated: that with the famous DJ Cristian Marchi, with whom he produced "We are perfect" and "Disco strobe".
Today DOT/COMMA’s activity of music production has increased exponentially. He cooperates with various DJs, among them Fabio De Vivo, Morgan Cardinale, Thomas Ferry, AR.MA, Alex Berti, to name just a few. Among his recent productions we must remember, apart from the above mentioned “We are Perfect” and “Disco Strobe”, also “Hold Out” (inserted in the “B.O.S.” project with AR.MA), “Pussy Whipped”, “I don' know”, “Singing Loud”, “Bump” and “In the name of Love”.
Since 2011 DOT/COMMA's commitment has been that of coupling the continous partnerships with various DJs with the realization of his own independent project. Melody, lyrics, arrangement and sound are created entirely by DOT/COMMA.
In addition, the official website will be ready soon. Here it will be possible to interact directly with DOT/COMMA and his creations. The intention is to interconnect all official pages present on the Web with the people who love his music.
What DOT/COMMA does not lack is ambition, without ever forgetting that touch of humility necessary to keep both feet on the ground and not to lose contact with reality, the authentic source of inspiration and creativity.
