Since the Spring of ‘97 Dopamean has played a stylistic and diverse type of metal in Gainesville, FL. Consisting of vocalist Joey Siler, guitarists Allan Godfrey and Kris Ritchie, drummer Gray Spengler and bassist K.D McClellan they have been described by critics as “a fusion of all that is heavy”.

Dopamean captures a distinct mixture of slow and hyper fast tempos. It is controlled by a tight and dominant rhythm section of progressive/odd phrasing style of drumming and extended fretboard bass patterns. Adding to the instrumentation are intricate guitar riffs which pound away and then tranquilize with effect-layered melodies. Once the musical mayhem begins the final factor is the vocals, which extend from incisive hymns to rapid chants to glass spitting screams.

Dopamean has received great reviews from the many shows played in Florida and surrounding areas. They have released two independent albums, The Millennium Drug in ‘2k and a self-titled album in ’02 as well as countless demos. In Nov of 2002 Dopamean was named one of Gainesville’s top 20 local bands by Moon Magazine and are continually featured in the Gainesville Sun and other local and regional newspapers and magazines. They are played regularly on Rock 104 Locals Only radio show, The Buzz on 100.5 and many underground internet radio stations. They have participated and headlined shows sponsored by Rock 104, Rock Solid Productions, UDTV Thrash N’ Bash Series, Sick Bitch Entertainment and Metal Masters.

Through out the years Dopamean has had the honor in sharing the stage with a mixture of metal acts like Nile, Deicide, Testament, Body Count, Stuck Mojo, Monstrosity, Prong, Darwin’s Waiting Room, Presence, Gargamel, OF Beat Down, 5 Billion Dead, Cystic Dysentery, Dark Faith, Impurity, and countless other great bands.

Also, through its web page and Myspace site, Dopamean has managed to gain many new fans from other parts of the country and the world. Between long time enthusiasts and new fans, Dopamean continues spreading the drug.
