Welcome to Louisiana. Home of Mardi Gras, Crawfish, The Saints, and mixtape DJ Whut it Dew. Born on June 26th, 1985 in Pineville Louisiana, DJ Whut it Dew always knew he was on track to becoming a heavy player in the music industry. "I started dj'ing at 15 years old." He recalls. "When my cousin needed help doing parties and what not I would pack up the equipment in my car and some in his and we would head to the parties or school dances and we would rotate throwing shows. So I got firsthand experience."

But after the success of high school, he narrowly escaped out of a bit of trouble and joined the US Army. He got in the game because he felt music was always his passion. So while stationed overseas he had plenty of time to sit around and do mixtapes and network through the World Wide Web. And with the help of his friend Billy T aka Jon Boi they put verbal conversation into a realistic business venture. "Jon Boi told me, "We need to do this for real." So I bought my own tables and recording equipment, and he snatched up beat making equipment and we kicked it off from there. He always told me and others, "Whut It Dew gone make it, his work ethic is so far beyond any I've ever seen." They formed Whut It Izz Entertainment and got a few heavy rappers to go with it and named the click Dem Quota Boyz which consisted of DJ Whut it Dew, Billy T, & Scott Jones. Later they added Slimm Gutta, T. Gunz & Gill Deezy. But with all of them being military they eventually separated but still represent Whut It Izz in their own way. "We eventually one day hope to reconnect and get back to making music again together." As DJ Whut it Dew states, "Being military and not being able to go to events to push artist the way I would like too, to me is a hardship."

But with his mixtape career in overdrive with 75 mixtapes and counting, you can rest assured he isn't going anywhere. Continuing his pursuit in his dream, DJ Whut it Dew's highly acclaimed mixtape series: Step Ya Greed Up, Gottem Star Struck, and Sippin on Screw Juice has earned him some very prestige's nominations. Nominated for 5 total Southern Entertainment Awards (Best Skills, Best Intro(2), Best Mixtape Duo, Best Chopped & Screwed CD) (Also nominated for Best Chopped and Screwed DJ at the 08 Justo Awards you can only imagine all the hustle and push this young man has made to make such an name for himself. "I was only in the mixtape game for 9 months when I got the first 2 SEA, and Justo nominees." He remembers. Now as an elite member of The Future Star DJs, Real DJs, Nitram Knarf DJs, Above All DJs, Slip N Slide DJs, Spark A Lot DJs, Official Greencity Records DJ, and officially sponsored by Hunid Racks Energy Drink there seems to be nothing stopping the young mixtape DJ. But with all the personal success he is still humbled in his journey to keep independent artists, mixtape DJ's and the music itself always in the spotlight. He writes for Grittsandeggs.com which allows unsigned talent and mixtape DJs a chance to shine. "I've done major collaborations with Bloodraw, Archie Lee, Yung Redd, and Chopper Young City, but I mostly deal with independents. It's my way of giving back. If I can help and the music is good then I will do what I can."

So with the bright lights on this young man, and with endless possibilities, consider what the music scene would be without DJ Whut it Dew. No more independents getting countless exposure, majors jumping on mixtapes with no push and records simply not getting broken. So are we sleeping on the best mixtape DJ in the game right now? Well ask Whut it Dew and he'll say, "I ain't the best DJ in the world, but I'm the hottest DJ under the sun." Guess we should all go buy our sunscreen now.
