Welcome to DJ Von’s MySpace. Keevon Douglas, as he is known to his family and friends, however, many of you also know him as DJ Von of Vibe 98.9 FM. DJ Von has been on the scene for a hot minute now. However, before all the glitter and glamour DJ Von started playing music in the back of his house – every big sound must start somewhere! He then watched sounds such as Sound Revolution, Coalition, TNT & Renegade, but he kept his talent to himself and practiced what he learnt and turned it into his own style. Some time passed and Hurricane Ivan came and DJ Von lost almost everything. Following the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, DJ Von relocated from Grand Cayman to its sister island of Cayman Brac to live with his grandmother. There DJ Von quickly became associated with a small Teen Disco held every weekend. This allowed him the avenue to show his skills and talent and as news spread that the young DJ from Grand Cayman was on the Brac, it quickly became one of the weekend hot spots. As DJ Von was preparing to move back to Grand Cayman, his best-friend Sloane Conolly approached him with a brilliant plan for them to join together and build their own sound which would be called “Asylum Sound”. Sadly, Sloane passed away a few months later. DJ Von moved back to the Grand Cayman and received news of an upcoming DJ Competition. DJ Von’s family and friends kept pushing him to enter and at the last minute he completed the entrance forms, never once thinking that he would get a call back. However, sure enough he did. As competition night came DJ Von shocked the crowd with his debut performance. DJ Von did not win the competition, but was awarded the Peoples’ Choice Award as the competitor with the most public votes. Later that same night DJ von received a job offer from Vibe 98.9 FM, which he quickly accepted. Later that year DJ Von got the opportunity to host his own show on Vibe 98.9 FM on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm which was dubbed “The Early Vibe Show”. Which is now sponsored by VP Records. This is now one of Caymans most popular radio shows. He later got another offer from the radio station to host another show every Wednesday night from 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm which has been dubbed “The Mid-Week Session”. This show is also growing in popularity. At only 20 years old and just over a year in the public’s eye, DJ Von has accomplished an amazing feat. He has played alongside many talented local and international DJ sounds such as Selecta Renegade, Stone Love, Swatch, Coalition, Sound Rev, Black Chiney, Bass Odyssey Renaissance, Eternal Vibes and many others. DJ Von is surely one of Cayman’s Top Up-Coming DJs with talent that will allow him to grown from strength to strength and heights uncharted!
