Tony English was born in London but of European dissent. His interest in music began when he first learnt the guitar at the younger age of 10 years old.
It was during his teenage years when the evolution of house music swept through London’s club land that Paul Oakenfoid and Danny Rampling introduced him to DJ’s and house music. The end of the 90’s saw Tony starting off in venues such as Hanover Grand, Legends and guest spots at the legendary nightclub Club UK. In 1998 he was introduced to Interface (Internet's first pirate radio station). It was here he developed his playing and presenting skills to a mass audience of over 100, 000 listeners per show which he later would develop a further interest in.
In 2001 Tony was snapped up by club land giants Wildchild where he began to take centre stage at many UK events and festivals as the only house music DJ alongside Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Matt Hardwick, John Kelly, Trisco and many more.
During this period Tony then signed up to award nominee HouseFM In London and quickly built his name up as Saturday nights must listened to show. Tony’s show fast became the essential listening platform in London. This saw Tony working alongside the likes of Roger Sanchez, Wally Lopez, Alfredo, Danny Howells, Boy George, Steve Angello, Mark Knight, Juanjo Martin, Robbie Rivera, Chus & Ceballos, Jellybean Benitez, Tiefschwarz, Frankie Knuckles, Alex Neri, Bob Sinclar, D Ramirez and so many more. Tony’s radio show saw him tour across the UK which is where he landed his residency for Ministry of Sound alongside the worlds biggest DJs!
In 2005, after closing the global recognized HouseFM, he joined PushFM attracting followers from all over the globe. Tony then became supported by all leading clubbing brands and works in conjunction with We Love Space (Ibiza), Fabric, Ministry of Sound & Matter (London), UDG and Fader Pro. House music giants Azuli also signed up Tony as London resident DJ for their events at the notorious Cross nightclub. Working at Club Azuli saw Tony rocking sold out events housing 2000 clubbers on a monthly basis alongside Danny Rampling, Norman Jay, Seamus Haji, Joe T Vanelli, Kurd Maverick, ATFC, Full Intention, Alan Braxe, Dirty South, The Cube Guys, Deadmau5, Audiofly, Tom Novy, Laidback Luke and others. During this time Tony also started playing in more gay venues with at dates in London’s Pride, Fire Nightclub and a stint for Blue Cube events.
In 2007, Tony English landed an exclusive compilation deal for Nissan Europe, providing the official soundtrack for the Qashqai jeep conference… released in January 2007. During this time Tony signed up with club land notorious promoters Pushca.where he's a resident of still today. Taking him to additional new heights from UK festivals alongside Mark Ronson, Seb Fontaine, Roni Size, Florence and the machine to dates in Ireland, Malta, Finland, Russia, Ibiza and venues across London.
In 2008, Tony joined up with Lovechild with a residency at Pacha which later moved to Fire which is where is there today. In addition to London dates will see Tony English play at events held in various cities across Europe and a tour across South Africa
Shortly after Ibiza’s biggest party brand SupermartXe also asked Tony to join up which is still where he is today entertaining crowds up to 5000 every month.
The future is bright for this professional, an ambassador for promoting new talent who delivers an inspirational soundtrack for the weekend!
