I started DJ'n back in 1982. I taught myself how to mix & scratch by watching DJ's at parties and by listening to LA's original Hip Hop station 1580 AM Stereo KDAY. The famous "Traffic Jams" with all the top notch "Mack Attack Mixmasters" (too many to name). I also listened to the dope mixes on KJLH & KACE FM. As I developed my skills on the turntables, I got my hustle game on and sold mixtapes throughout high school for extra cash. I established a name for myself through slangin' mixtapes and by DJ'n all over (House parties, clubs, concerts, etc) Orange County. In 1987, I was asked to be the DJ in a rap group "His Majesti". We got signed with Egyptian Empire Records (Egyptian Lover's record label) around '88 - '89. We had our song played on L.A.'s first original all Hip Hop radio station:KDAY (1580 AM). Later the group split except for "Cyco" and myself. We stayed together and formed another group called "Insane Poetry". Around 1990-91, we were performing at local clubs trying to get our name out there. We hooked up opening for Rodney O. & Joe Cooley at OC's legendary party spot "Old World" (Huntington Beach). Rodney & Joe were impresed with us. We immediately created a friendship with them. As time went on, Cyco began working with Rodney on writing & co-producing songs for their albums. In turn, Rodney asked Cyco to collaborate with him on their hit single "Get Ready To Roll". After that song hit the radio & MTV, a major buzz hit the streets and the music industry. As a result, we were offered a record deal with Seattle based Hip Hop record label "Nastymix Records". They signed us.although they were scared of our material. They released our album "Grim Reality" back in 1992. We continued to work and tour with Rodney & Joe. We were in dozens of Rap magazine publications (The Source, Rap Pages, Billboard, etc) and got great reviews. We had our video appear on Yo! MTV Raps. Everything was going great! Unfortunately for us, the record label folded right as we were starting to make some noise. Although, still determined to make it in the rap game, we went back to the lab and recorded another Insane album "Blacc Plague". We eventually got signed with React Records in 1995. This time around the label was not really pushing our album like Nastymix was. React Records was focusing more on compilations and dance music. Not that many copies were sold and if you claim to have a copy.consider yourself to be one of the very few. Anyhow, after all that madness ended we took some time off to re-group and see if we still wanted to pursue this music thing. In 2003, we got back together and decided to keep pushing forward and we recorded another album: "Faith in Chaos". This time we released it independently thru Grim Reality Entertainment. Copies were sold on the streets & on the internet (iTunes & Amazon.com). Today I continue producing music. I produce & remix beats for groups, websites, etc I also started my own DJ business back in '91 and do that full time now. I have DJ'd all over the nightclub circuit in Orange County. I currently freelance spinning at various nightclubs in L.A. & O.C I'm fortunate to be doing what I love full-time and to be making enough money to pay the bills. These few words can basically sum this whole bio up: "Music is my life & my life is music". Click here to get your own Unique Contact Box - Over 1100 to choose from
