Michael Monserrate Sosa, artistically known as DJ Sosa, was born on June 22, 1989 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Sosa is the second of three children and has demonstrated a passion for music from a very young age. He plays the piano since he was a pre-schooler and he is presently studying at the Escuela Libre de Musica Ernesto Ramos Antonini, in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. With only a year left to graduate, Sosa has become a true musician, mastering the piano and percussion.
He was introduced to the Reggaeton community when he was in eight grade by his 13 year old brother, DJ Monserrate. At that time and before being part of the Jedays, Sosas older brother was collaborating with Los Dementes Musicales. Sosas first track was for Tony Dizes song in the production called La Mision 4. In this same production, Sosa worked on the Calientame song by the now famous reggaeton duo, Wisin and Yandel. It was after this, that Yandel, gave Sosa the name he carries today as an artist.
After being exposed to the reggaeton genre, Sosa has become a very demanding producer. He kept working with key reaggeton artists such as Daddy Yankee and laid the tracks for songs such as Wisin and Yandels, No Me Dejes Solo. Sosa also worked with artists such as OG Black and Master Joe.
However, Sosas real opportunity came when reggaetons notorious DJ Rafy Mercenario eyed his talent as a musician. With Mercenarios help, Sosa collaborated on productions like: Clase Aparte by Yaga and Mackie. He also produced in: Los Casadores, which included hits by Zion and Lennox and Tito El Bambino; Joan and Oneills song El Conejito; DaMusic Reloaded; and Los Bandoleros.
At this point in his career, it is safe to say that Sosa has worked with almost every single reggaeton artist. Just to name a few, Sosa has most recently worked with artists such as Ivy Queen, Andy Boy, Wiso G, Jon Erick, Shaka Black, Nicky Jam, Yaviah, Johnny Prez, Glory, Nejo and Dalmata, Yomo, Cheka, Las Guanabanas, Arcangel and De la Ghetto, Maykee Perfecto, Hector El Bambino, Don Omar and Polaco. He also collaborated on Noriegas album, Sin Control, in Baby Rastas song Hay de Mi.
Well, you can expect a lot of good things from Sosa in many up and coming productions, such as: DJ Rafy Mercenarios El Rey del Marroneo, Mundo Demente, Los Vatos Locos, DJ Kalins Control Absoluto. You can also expect more collaborations with artists like Glory, Pedro Prezz and Yaviah, in a new version of the hit song En la Mia.
