Russell Greene AKA DJ Russell Started Spinnng music during the Early 80's.
Raised in Queens and Long Island he began to embrace the sounds of Hip-Hop and Breakdancing. Traveling to the Bronx to whatch Grand Master Flash spin or up in Harlem where he first seen RUN DMC perfrom 'Here We Go' @ the Funhouse. In 1983 the Art of Graffitti was tooken in by his young soul not to vandelize but to express art in which NYC back then had no REAL youth programs within his Reach.
Thus brings us to his love of music. Whatching GrandMaster Vic and the Disco Twins in Jamaica Queens & Divine Sounds and The Cadillac Crew in Bedstuy Brooklyn gave him a new interest, DJing!
He soon linked up with Kid Flash and Craig Gee and became know as DJ Finesse of the Juice crew allstars which was also linked to Roxanne Shante, DJ Marley Marl, MC Shan and about several others as well.
During the Mid to Late 80's the crack epidemic sent its horrifying wave through the streets of NYC. Either most of his freinds became victims of drugs or jailed for selling it.
Afterwards in 1987 his Uncle took him to the PARADISE GARAGE to witness Real DJs with Real People that didn't care about COLOR, SEX, or even FINANCAIL STATUS.
After witnessing this Paradise of social freedom, his journey continued to the underground events such as Wild Pitch Parties, The Soundfactory, Redzone, MK's, Red Parriot, The Tunnel, Warehouse, Mars, Soundfactory Bar, Body and Soul, Shelter and some of todays Soulful underground places as well.
Music brings all souls together. It is a healer. Where I'm from we don't care if you are Black, White, Asian, Jew, Middle-eastern or Gay. When you enter the underground sounds of DJ Russell
