It all started in 1991 when Scott Dulin, aka DJ Mack Long, picked up the trumpet for the first time. Coming from a talented musical family he knew he was destined to be a performer. This would be his instrument for the next 8 years as he learned the ins and outs of musical structure and live performance.
After graduating highschool Mack took a brief hiatus from music to explore what early adult life had to offer. When two years had passed and he realized that selling cell phones and painting apartments weren't what he'd had in mind he picked up a local paper one day and began to look through the employment section. As he read through the listings there was only one that caught his eye: "DJs wanted for weddings, corporate parties, and school dances. We will train." Immediately Mack called the number on the ad, set up an interview. Two days later he locked down his new weekend job.
He spent the next few years making crappy money doing unsatisfying gigs that were the exact opposite of what he expected when he thought of what a "DJ" was supposed to be. Mack then decided it was time to take the next step. With help from his uncle he got his own equipment, used the knowledge of musical structure that was embedded in him, and started teaching himself how to mix. He'd spend hours practicing mixing between his day job and weekend gigs. When he had a rare night off he'd go to local bars and clubs to watch and listen to the resident DJs, and then go home and spend hours teaching himself what he'd just seen.
Within the next couple years Mack left his retail day job, quit the wedding/corporate/high school scene and locked in a residency 3 nights a week at a local sports bar with his best friend. Since then Mack Long has been full throttle, holding residencies all over the greater Seattle area. He has worked tirelessly to become one of the most well rounded, well known, and in-demand DJs in the greater Seattle area. Mack prides himself on being extremely versatile and having the ability to weave seemelessly between all genres at any time. Some of his career highlights are opening for hip hop legends such as Skee-lo, Big Boi of Outkast, Fatman Scoop, Jermaine Dupri, and the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Mack Long's love of music stems from of his uncle and grandfather who are/were both lifelong musicians. Much of his inspiration to succeed comes from his uncle who always believed in him to get out on his own and make things happen for himself rather than depending on others to do it for him. His inspiration also comes from his family. "Being with them drives me to work endlessly to achieve my goals and make a bigger and better name for myself so that I can be as successful as possible for them. I'm incredibly lucky and thankful for the opportunity to be able to support my family by doing something I love so much."
