DJ Melissa

Boston-born Melissa grew up traveling between Boston and the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. Her childhood in the sunshine of the Caribbean developed her musical taste; you can feel the sun shining through the vibrant music she plays, and she touches many genres, from hip hop to house, reggae, rock, latin, disco and funk, nothing is off-limits. Her sets are fluid, exiting and exotic. She is truly a versatile dj.



It was in the unlikely location of Burlington, Vermont where Melissa began djing in 1998. From parties to clubs and independent radio, Melissa’s djing took wings… She opened for Gregory Isaacs, Jimmy Cliff and Wu-Tang Clan. In 2000 Melissa moved back to her island home of St. Maarten and began co-hosting morning talk radio. Melissa was one of the first resident djs at Bliss in 2003 holding down Thursday nights until she moved to London in August 2005. In London, Melissa djed at Graze, Ruby Lo, Maddox and Maya and private parties at Kensington Palace.



The winter season of 2003/4 brought Melissa to the French island of St. Barths where she djed at Nikki Beach, Casa Nikki and The Yacht Club. She became a fixture in the St Barths scene, playing there every winter season since… Mel is a frequent guest dj at Platinum Glam Club in Geneva, Nikki Beach (around the world) and Pink Elephant, New York City/Sao Paulo. She has also rocked thousands in Tallinn, Estonia to Beijing and Shanghai, China.



Melissa prefers the energy of djing private parties and boutique clubs, having spun for an exclusive clientele across Europe, the USA, Brazil, Caribbean and Far East. Melissa still touches on all genres with a specialty in latin house- a tribute to her Caribbean roots…
