i began Dj-ing in 1989 at the age of 17 shortly after emigrating to Perth Western Australia from Northampton England , i had been a heavy colletor of vinyl since 1982 and since i already had a collection of 1000+ i decided it was time to purchase some decks and get seriously into dj-ing. The music i was collectiong in the 80's was mainly hip hop , electro , soul & funk and a bit of reggae / dub , when i began mixing it was strictly hip hop until late 1990 when i was taken to a club in perth called Limbo's and heard a Dj 'Dave Jackson' spin some early house , breaks , techno etc. which really opened my mind to the whole electronic / dance music scene. by the end of 1990 i had started playing in clubs and by '91 i won the WA DMC's ''mixing championships'' which then boosted me straight onto the rave scene / club scene where alongside a few other dj's was playing the sound of uk breaks which progressed onto jungle/dnb. i continued to play the rave / club circuit until 1994 i then took a year away from perth and returned to the uk and played at Raves / Clubs alongside dj's such as carl cox , slipmatt , seduction etc for a company called ''Dance Planet'' By 1995 when i returned to Perth i decided to drop the happy hardcore side of things and concentrate 100% on jungle/dnb which was always my first love from the beginning , i have stayed focused on that sound untill recent times and still continue to do so these days. in 1999 i decided i had been Dj-ing for 10 years playing other people's music and it was time to set up a studio and get into making my own music , so i entered the world of producing . By 2001 i had my first official release on hardleaders 'we hear drums' and have continued to release music since then on labels such as LTJ Bukem's Good looking Records , Doc Scott's 31 Records , Big Bud's Soundtrax Label , DJ SS's Formation / New Identity Label , John B's Tangent & Chihuahua Labels , Renegade Recordings , Defunked , Phuturistic Bluez , Phuturo , Fokuz , DJ Suv's Playside & Tribe Labels , My Own label Interphase etc) concentrating on the more musical styles for producing ( Liquid Funk ) however i still like to Dj with some heavier beats & mix up both styles.
My Dj Tours over the years has included events such as LTJ Bukem's 'Progression Sessions @ The End London 2003 , Herbal London 2003 , and more recent tours of UK & Europe including LTJ Bukems Fabric 'Bukem In Session' Night 2008 , New Zealand Auckland & Christchurch and European Countries such as 'France Paris , Estonia , Slovenia , Croatia , Slovakia , Bratislava , Norway , Switzerland & Germany to name a few , also since 1998 i have played around australia on regular occasions at clubs & festivals including 'Sydney , Melbourne , Brisbane , Adelaide , Tasmania , Canberra , Albany.
Recent production has included collaborations with 'Big Bud , Makoto , Phetsta ' and remixes for 'Makoto , Kid Kenobei & MC Shureshock' with regular plays on Triple J & tracks featured on 'LTJ Bukems - Fabric Live CD' Plus Forthcoming Releases Due on my Interphase Label.
