DJ Giovanni has been on the local scene of South Florida, and his orginal stomping grounds of the Detroit Metro area going back and forth from club 2 club, spinning everything from techno, house, hip hop, r&b, drum & bass, garage, 2 step, jazz, at numerous events, festivals, and parties for an eternity. DJ Giovanni got his start in the music business, spinning at clubs in Japan, and in the Marines at the E Clubs on base, he quickly established himself and was sought after to spin at most AAFEES events and concerts, and in some of the local North Carolina clubs. after graduating from boot camp in San Diego and being transferred there.



After his military commitment ended, arriving back home in Detroit, he began to spin at local colleges and clubs in the Detroit Metro area, spinning techno and other club music (r&b, hip-hop) alongside the likes of Derrick Mayday, Juan Magic Juan Atkins, Kevin Master Reese Saunderson, Joe Boyer, Duane In The Mix Bradley, Jeff “The Wizard” Mills, etc. which gave him the insight to branch out on his own, and venture down to South Florida to begin a process of developing his music business talent. . He attended Career Institutes acquiring an AA degree in music business marketing, and after serving an internship at Gong Sounds/Ikus Records in 90, he was hired, and worked there briefly in radio promotions and sales. He eventually got hired in at Jerry Bassin Distributors in 92, working his way up through the ranks, and when the company merged with Alliance Entertainment Corp in 95, he was promoted to returns coordinator, which led to his promotion to music/video buyer in 97. He took on the buying responsibilities for the corporate headquarters facility located in Coral Springs, FL and the New Jersey based facility. One if his main responsibilities was to acquire co-op advertising monies from the vendors to establish a relationship with the numerous chain, mom & pop, and e-commerce retailers that Alliance services, placing ads in many of Alliance’s award winning trade magazines that are sent to it’s large customer base weekly. Some of the vendors that he has worked with are Buena Vista, Fox, UMVD, Paramount, WHV, EMI, Colombia Tri-star, Ground Zero, Ventura, and MGM, just to name a few He has won many awards, merits, gold and platinum plaques for his work at the distributor, helping to push many of the vendors’ products that he works with, to success. One of his proudest accomplishments was winning an award for his work on the Def Comedy Jam series, distributed through Ventura, helping to push it over a million units sold. He has also worked in the capacity of road manager, business manager, and consultant to numerous companies and artists, and is an established music producer and dj in his own right. On the local scene in South Florida, starting at Club Junkyard , he established himself on the South Beach scene, as one of the more talented, and versatile DJs, always willing to stretch the boundaries of what others were spinning. This ability caught the attention of other local club promoters, managers, and owners, at Club Nu, Bolero, Match, Jazid, The White Room, Vibe, Fat Alberts, The Cave, Club Blue, Rose Bar, etc., and eventually worked into a residency at Club Glam Slam, Club Zen, etc. Giovanni plays Hip-Hop, all forms of House Music, Techno, Retro, Funk, Ethnic Music, Disco, Jazz, Acid Jazz, R&B(60s and beyond), and has a keen sense on where to take the crowd he is playing to. .

Giovanni’s dream was to eventually garner interest from a major label to sign him to a production deal, and put his musical vision out to the world. That happened early in January 2002, with the release of “World Chillage, A Step Beyond”, distributed through Rykodisc/WEA. It has done quite well globally, in the South America countries, as well as the UK. due to its multi-cultural selection of songs, mixed by Giovanni. Giovanni also has put out numerous independent mix tapes that have gained notoriety as well.
