My love for hip-hop drastically grew late in the year 2000. I was always fascinated by the art that DJ's executed on the 2 turntables. Listening to mix show dj's on Power 106 (LA) inspired me to buy some tables and instantly attempt to mix. Obviously, nothing came easy; i was clueless as to what equipment to purchase and had no real mentor/teacher. My only teacher was the radio. I started out with 1 belt driven table and a $40 mixer (i.e. ghe-tto!!!!!). Slowly I began to get the hang of mixing and scratching. About a year later I actually had the balls to call myself a dj, and 8 years later I am at the peak of my "career". DJ'ing is not just a hobby I have on the side, it is a huge part of my life; It is my passion. I am very proud of all I have accomplished as a dj. I began spinning at parties all over Southern California but it wasn't until 2005 that my career changed forever. One night I met a couple of DJ's that would go on to become some of my best friends. Within a couple of months we began a network of DJ's (Saint City DJ's) in the city of Santa Ana, California. Scratch This Promotions DJ Crew was reborn in the summer of 2005. We wasted no time and began pushing mixtapes. Our Volume 1 mixtape has reached regions like The San Francisco Bay and New York City. Our crew now consists of 7 DJ's who work hard to represent the name on different levels. From mixtapes to the club scene, opportunities have come as a reward to hard work and consistency. I've had the pleasure to spin at numerous clubs in Southern California. In October of 2005 I was accepted into one of the biggest (if not the biggest) record pools in Southern California- Rotations Record Pool. 2006 got even bigger! Power 106 Mixer Idol has been my biggest accomplishment thus far and earning a chance to mix live on air with Big Syphe & Eric D-lux was a dream come true!! It definitely was the peak of my career, May 10th, 2006. I actually won $2,000 worth of guitar center dj gear and a 1-hour guest spot on Power 106 FM Los Angeles. The most important thing I got out of this contest was confidence. I am the type of dj that is never satisfied with myself. Working hard to improve my skills is a daily routine, but this served as a confidence booster.

UPDATE!

After turning in demos I finally got the golden opportunity to prove myself on Power 106 on air during the 12 Days of Mix Mas (Dec. 2007). I have consistently been on air since then on the weekends and have earned myself to be called a POWER 106 MIXER (11/12/08). This is a goal I have been wanting to accomplish since I began DJing. My dream has definitely come true! Shout out to the entire Power 106 fam!
