DJ Fokis

DJ Fokis didn't grow up with an influential family member who was a DJ and then the torch was passed on. He came from a world where inspiration and the love for art and music was second nature to him. It kind of made him wonder where this talent came from musically, trying to track down pass relatives who made a career of music back in the 1940s up to the present nothing came to surface. Not dwelling on the failure to find a relative from his pass it did not stop him for seeing things that fascinated him. As a young child, armed with a brown bulky portable turntable and a 45 of George Benson's songs Give Me the Night young DJ Fokis played this record for close family members making them dance even if it was his only record. As life continued he had more occurrences with disc jockeying. Bring records to show & tell during his elementary years. It was a part in his life where block parties were common on the south side of Chicago but as other kids played and began enjoying the last days of summer, young Fokis would be seen eying the local dj of the neighborhood spinning records for the block, not knowing how long he was standing there it was mentioned that he was there 45 minutes in a trance watching the Djays every move. Its the small things Fokis can cherish more than the milestones in his life now. DJ Fokis can now say he is ready for the task of being a dominant force in the DJ world. He has battled and won competitions across the city and surrounding states but it became apparent to him that you cant eat trophies or survive forever on prizes won. He had the respect and glory but it was about the grind and hustle within to be the greatest creatively and financially. Being the self-proclaimed Triple Threat DJ of Chicago being recognized as a top performer in Turntablism, Battle Djaying, and Club Djaying he has done it all when it has come to obstacles of the wheels of steel. DJ Fokis was in competition with a DMC world champion on the 1999-2000 tour with DJ IXL. After DJ Fokis routine IXL told Fokis he never heard cuts so clean and precise, from that moment Fokis knew what his path was. Looking at DJ Fokis track record when it comes to producing was a second nature adventure for the 24 year old dj. Helping one of Chicago rising stars Spree Isreal, DJ Fokis was new the world of producing a song, but after some practice he accomplished his goal getting a top slot during a show on Chicago's top radio station Power 92.3s Power hour showcasing some of Chicago's big name artist. Having these accolades and popularity is something DJ Fokis calls in short scenery. Scenery is something you see on the way to your destination at times it can be a short or long view. But you have to keep moving on and don't stop. DJ Fokis has shared tables with some of the most successful DJ's in the city of Chicago. He sees it as scenery along the way to his final destination, his own success.



If 2005 was the set-up. 2006 is the plan put into full motion. For 5 years DJ Fokis has been in the shadows being the man with the plan but volunteered not to be in the limelight due to his own choice. But now has realized that his executive decision making and power moves can be balanced with the spotlight. DJ Fokis has maintained a certain amount of humbleness never thrashing certain players in the game assuming it may hurt him and his credibility as a true power player. His primary company Graphinheit Studios A company identity and entertainment graphics firm over the past 5 years has had tremendous success nationally reaching audiences of over 250,000 plus. Briefly, Graphinheit Studios creativity can be seen across the city. Graphically DJ Fokis can be categorized as The diamond in the rough He has maintained clients since 1998 and continues to amaze new clientele who challenges his expertise. Knowing how dominant he was with his mind to art, his next plan is to due the same thing with his dj skills. Living day by day is boring, but living by the minute is a true rush DJ Fokis once said. Pure Product Records his musical side has been featured on Chicago artists mixtapes, demos, albums, and TV shows. Late 2005 became the crossroad for DJ Fokis when he released a Mixtape featuring his long time music associate Spree Isreal. It has since went beyond DJ Fokis expectations and has become a widely accepted Mixtape branching from coast to coast. His next project is to finally make a difference in this city when it come to being a true dj. He has his sight set on becoming the first industry accepted Turntablist. I'm not a screamjay, all due respect to those who do it but, I speak with my hands and that's what I will continue to do. Reluctant to use his voice as a marketing tool it would only be used for sound-bytes and sounds effects as drops over exclusives songs but will never be the key to his success like most cookie cutter DJ out here these days. The game is over saturated with a lot of people who will not make it, he knows that very well but he will not be one of them.
