Hey guys!! My real name is Alex Powell but everyone knows me as Ali’P, Dirty Ali, Powely, Alex or other variations!!! I have been djing since i was 15! i started out like evryone else did (playin hard house) but i soon realised that there was more to life than BOOM BOOM BOOOM! Now adays theres BOOM, BOOOOM & FARKIN BOOM! lol only messin. I love playin and producing Electro, Fidget House & Trance. I have also recently got an obsession for old skool stuff like vintage synths & nintendo but thats another story!!! I have played all over the country at nights such as Dizstruxshon, Lets av it, Superstars, branded & have played in clubs and bars in Doncaster, Hull, Leeds, Brid, Scarborough, Middlesborough, Wakefield, Nottingham. The list goes on & on.
i have played at various nights with loads of DJs & had the privalidge to warm up for some of the big ones!! Dave Spoon, Micky Slim, Cassette Jam, Riley & Durrant, Pedro Delgardo, James Alexander AKA Kid (MY MENTOR!!), Tyler Leigh, Will Bailey, Shaun M ETC ETC.
Any ways enough of the jibba jabba fool!!! If you make beats, DJ, Where funny clothes or just wana chat!!! DO IT!!!!

Bridlington’s Alex Powell (21) is making a name for himself on the UK dance scene. One half of producers/promoters The Squatters, Alex has been filling clubs up and down the country (including Manchester’s Sankeys and London’s Rhythm Factory), with his brand of wobbly and ghetto house music. He has booked and DJd alongside A List Djs such as TrophyTwins, Will Bailey, Riley & Durrant, Dave Spoon and now has label interest from US label Grooved Music and have recently set up their own label Audiojunk Records.
Alex began Djing when he was 16 and has been producing for the last two years. He studied on the Access to Music course at Yorkshire Coast College and, since completing the course, now works in the college music department as a technician.
“It can be quite hard to make a name for yourself musically in Bridlington, as it’s quite a small place,Myself and my business partner Oliver Portamento are putting all our efforts into The Squatters and as such decided to set up our own label, Audiojunk Records.
It’s hard work; I played 5 gigs this weekend, but it’s paying off as the last few months have seen things start to take off!
If it were not for the Access to Music course and what I learnt, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I learnt so much about the music industry,as well as how to actually produce music, and it has helped me organise myself and promote myself as a professional.”
Currently in the life of Dirty Ali I am currently Running a record label called AudioJunk records along side production partner Oliver Portamento. We also produce music under the alias Squatters!! & Various other wierd names (depending on what we make!!) Ifyou are arsed about this then check us out its all in my top friends list i think?!
