DJ AMAR (Dj/Producer/Remixer)(Chicago IL) has been a dj for 23 yrs and producing for 14 yrs. It all begin back in elementary school. Influenced by listening to house music on wbmx the hotmix 5 with

Mike "Hitman"Wilson,FastEddie,Frankie "Hollwood"Rodriguez,Farley"Jackmaster"Funk,Ralphi Rosario. Also Julian"Jumpin"Perez, Bad Boy Bill, and Kenny"Jammin"Jason. At this time in the 80's house music was at it's peak in chicago. Reality became clear when Amar got a chance to meet Mike"Hitman"Wilson and Julian"Jumpin Perez at the taste of chicago in 90'. Amar started out with 2 records and 2 turntables one with a pitch and one without.

The first 2 albums that he picked up from the local record store Mr.Cee's was Farley Funkin Beats and HouseNation. Amar started going to Hot Wheels roller rink on the westside of chicago. That's where he met Dj Marvin and White Boy. Amar saw how Dj Marvin controlled the crowd and from that point Amar knew that music was what he wanted to pursue. Amar would go to the rink every friday and saturday and Dj Marvin let Amar spin for 20 minutes and the rest is history. As time went on, Amar started doing local block clubs parties, house parties and youth centers. By 87' he met up with Corkey Blaster master “Hitman” aka Traxman. They teamed up ans started doing parties together. Corkey introduced Amar too neighbor hood dj's that was doing big things at the time on the westside of chicago. Dj's Jimmy Jam, Keith "Jackmaster" Fuck it up, Dj Terrible Ty, Gene Hunt, Steve Calhoun, Housemaster Delray, Dangerous Danny, Kenwood, Pierrie, Double D, Mush. Amar often went to party at the factory,Rond'a Vu, Flight zone, Da Vinci Manor, The Hole In The Wall and Barneys.

Corkey aka Traxman also introduced Amar to a good friend of his on the southside of chicago named Hot”Hands” Norvin. Norvin was a seasoned dj who groomed Amar along the way. Amar and Norvin teamed and begined doing parties together on the west and southside together. In 88’ to 89’ Norvin helped Amar stat his first little club on the Westside of chicago called “PHASE 2” The Club House. Then in 1990 Amar teamed up with a local do crew call S.T.C “Sound Track Crew”. Memebers Jammin Jessie Ortiz, Dj Roc, Terri, Pumpin Pete and Disco Derrick.

In the early 90’s Amar went to Mather High School on the north side of chicago. That’s where he really studied music hard and doing more parties. He started doing a few house parties and even going to little clubs such as fotches, Erics north, and Cathedral. While at Mather, Amar was a school mate of Justin Long who is now a renowned Dj and producer. At that period of time a music label was holding down the game, and that was Dj International. That’s when Amar met up with Tyree Cooper and Dj Ping.

Through sophmore and junior year of high school, Amar did a house party for a friend on the westside of chicago named Quincy. Quincy parties became word of mouth and stayed packed. Later Quincy became interested in becoming a do and hooked up with Amar. Amar then hooked up with another do from the Westside named Dj Slick Rick “Da” Master. Amar took a break from music and went to college to play basketball. In 94’ Amar came home and built his music studio from the ground up. Amar wanted to start a do group at that time as well. Even so his own record label on the Westside called “ICEBOX RECORDS” The group members was Traxman,Slick Rick Da’ Master, Dj Q, Dj Jo, Big Ferl, and Rapheal. For equipment they started out with ASR 10 keyboard, Roland R-8, 2 Alesis monitors, Sony Dat machine, 16 track mackis mix board, Tascam porto 16 track, Tascam 112 mk 2 tape deck and Roland 808 acid machine.

In that same year Amar met Dj Funk at a local gas station where Dj Funk known then as Dj Chuck. Amar and Dj Funk exchanged numbers and was friends every since. Amar learned the art of producing through Funk and inspiration through another dj and producer named Gene Hunt. Dj Funk introduced Amar to producing and in 1994 Amar completed his first album Westside Work Station 5 Featuring Slick Rick Da’ Master.

After that came Amar’s 2nd album entitled Konfused Konfliction. A collaboration with Dj Funk. The 3rd album was entitled “The Millennium” Dj Q and produced by Dj Amar. The 4th album “The Millennium 2” Dj Q and produced Dj Amar. The 5th “Westside Boogie” Produced by Traxman and mastered by Dj Amar. The 6th “The Return Of Dj Amar”. The 7th “Ghetto Muzik” Factory Style . Produced by Slick Rick Da’ Master and co-produced by Dj Amar. Also lists of several remixes and various tracks for various dj’s and artists.

Dj Amar lives and breathes producing. It is a part of his life like children are a part of our life. Amar cares and nurtures it on a daily basis. It’s not a hobby to him it is a way of life, very mental, god’s gift and a natural born talent. When asked if he could change one thing about his life, the answer was absolutely nothing. Amar has seen th mountain top, seen stardom an has enjoyed every minute of it. He is what he does.

When asked, what he would be doing in 20 yrs, he replied, “laying back in my mansion, sippin on a double shot of chevis regal with 2 ladies fanning me”. Now how is that for an answer! Dj Amar has 3 key points For future and upcoming producers trying to get in the game. 1 - Don’t just play the music, be the music. 2 - Study the form of storytelling in your music. And 3 - Be original. As for 2010 era, Amar released His reformed record label Konfused Konfliction Records. The label will showcase Robert Armani, Gene Hunt, Loweck, Dj Slick Rick Da’ Master, Dj NV, Bobby Numonik, and Dj Hoffa. Stay tuned for new tracks for the 2010 on Electrobounce.com
