The Distortion Project is a Belfast, Northern Ireland based Heavy Metal gig promotions agency and record label. Formed in 2000 with a view to hosting fortnightly metal nights in one of Belfast’s newest night spots (Auntie Annies, on the Dublin Road, Belfast), we quickly established ourselves as gig promoters when we were asked to take over the running of “rocKD” (a shortening of “rock at Katy Dalys.” Katy Dalys is a pub/gig venue situated in the centre of Belfast).
ABOUT rocKD
rocKD was borne out of a need to provide a place that local rock and metal bands could ply their wares to an appreciative and attentive audience. This is a weekly event that showcases at least three bands as well as the best mix of metal tunes played by our experienced metal DJ’s. These shows run every Saturday in The Limelight, Ormeau, Avenue, Belfast from 5pm – 9pm. There as usually 3 bands every week, and admission for the shows is £3.50 unless otherwise stated. Listings are updated on this site everymonth.
As well as running the rocKD series of gigs, we also promote gigs for touring bands too. Some of the bigger names we have brought to Belfast in the past include ENTOMBED, ORANGE GOBLIN, CLUTCH, CATHEDRAL, THE ALMIGHTY, AKERCOCKE, DECAPITATED, FIREBIRD, DESECRATION, GORGOROTH, AMEN, GRAND MAGUS, WITCHCRAFT, ANATHEMA, ELECTRIC WIZARD, ONSLAUGHT and a host of others. We also offer a tour booking service for bands wishing to come to Northern and Southern Ireland, as we have a wide range of contacts in this country.
