Every man has a story to tell.but very few can deliver a story like Ronald Truitt known throughout the music industry as "RONNIE DENIRO". Take a ride through the Southside like you've never heard it before. Chicago's best kept secret finally ready to tell it like it really is."ON THE SOUTHSIDE" the new mixtape from RONNIE DENIRO. This is my community, South Chicago. It began as a series of settlements before becoming a village. South Chicago has a sizable African American population, but has become a ethnic melting pot in many areas.
I love the food in the Chi. We have it all Nigerian to Italian cuisine in South Chicago. "Mom and Pop" stores florish throughout South Chicago's residential areas, than in any other neighborhoods. My spot was H and A soul food on 63rd and King. East 83rd Street, East 87th Street and south along the revitalized Commercial Avenue to East 95th Street have attracted corporations, businesses and new banks into the community.
I could still hear the cheers of my favorite team, The Chicago White Sox, everytime I close my eyes. Summer time smelled like Nathans hotdogs and popcorn over at U.S. Cellular Field in SouthSide.
Some people ask me how is it out there, you know money and all. Chicago has the third largest gross metropolitan product in the nation — approximately $442 billion according to 2007 estimates. In 2006, Chicago placed 10th on the UBS list of the world's richest cities.
But like murphys law says, every acftion has a reaction. With all that money in Chi-Town mobs and gangs eventually wanted a piece of the action. With the spread of poverty, the gangs spread as well. While William Julius Wilson argued that work had "disappeared" what really happened was that legal work was being replaced by illegal work. The factory was gone, but the dopehouse was poised to take its place. Instead of going away, the Vice Lords, Gangster Disciples, and Black Stone Rangers continued and transformed into economic organiztions. The Latin Kings and other Latino gangs similarly dug in, although Latino neighborhoods would be the target of gentrification in the 1990s. The leadership of Chicago's gangs had mostly been incarcerated in the 1970s. But instead of weakening the gangs, prison strengthened them, both in the prisons and in the neighborhrood.
While growin up on the streets of Southside Chicago learned valuable lessons the fueled his undying passion for secular music. One truth would constantly be a reminder to DENIRO "If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything". DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMEN ENTERTAINMENT, LLC
