In the early 80's a star was born. Demetrius DeAndrae Thomas is his name and he is now known in the hip hop world as "Devious". Devious stands out from other rappers in this industry because he brings the whole package to the game as an engineer, producer, songwriter, graphic designer, promoter, and entertainer. He has a unique sound and image, born in St. Louis, Mo, and was raised in Southern Mississippi where his musical roots originated.

Instead of turning his time and effort into crime and hustling, Devious put his time into his music career and his creativity. Devious had to literally use his music as a method of survival. His first record deal came out in the year of 2000, with Sony/ Can I Live Entertainment, under the wings of Joe Johnson of the New Orleans Saints. Devious was part of a 3 man group called Trump Tight with Bosstweed and Menace. The label went out on a huge promotional tour going in over 25 different states with their music and explosive performances performing with acts like Method Man, Twista, Braxtons, Goodfellas, Hotboys, No LImit Allstars, Ruffryders, and more. The label ended up going bankrupt within it's first 3 years when Joe Johnson was traded to the Green Bay Packers and pulled out which lead Devious to turning a solo artist and branching out on his own.

In early 2007, Devious stepped into the promotional world after he realized “to get it done one must do it himself.” With help from his graphic designer at the time “Missteek design” he came up with a promotional company called “Operation Beastmode.” The company quickly became known to throw the best local parties and concerts and became known all over myspace.com and is now known as one of the best promotion companies in the St. Louis area. With the accomplishments of this company in it’s first year earned Devious a nomination for “Promoter of the Year” for the St. Louis Tony J Traffic Music Awards held at the Robert Orpeheum Theatre in 2008. you can read more about “Operation Beastmode” at www.myspace.com/operationbeastmode.

In MId 2007, Devious also stepped into the graphics world. He realized that in order to run the promotional world he was in need of flyers, banners, posters, business cards, etc. He spent hour after hour watching tutorials on Adobe Photoshop and in his first 2 months of graphic design he caught the attention of another graphic designer by the name of Nancy Hessler who resides in Germany and branched their companies together and is today known as “Deviance Design”. This company has designed for people like Twista, Sean Kingston, Harley Davidson, United States Air Force, East St. Louis Health District, Southern Healthcare Foundation, Gena, Raw Resse, WE City, models, and TV Channel 26 in East St. Louis. You can read more about “Deviance Design” at www.myspace.com/deviance design.

You can never compare Devious to an artist that you have already heard or watched perform because he is one of a kind and one in a million. He has his very own sound, style, accent, and charisma and together you have the recipe for an explosive young rapper ready to let loose on the industry. Devious is releasing the first compilation from Operation Beastmode this year. Devious is always in the studio working on new projects and new ways to kick down the door to the rap game so be on the the lookout for this hot new artist. Rappers beware and producers better prepare because it aint no stopping this multi talented artist who separates the wannabees from the gonnabees.

The 2009 Awards are approaching so make sure you vote for Devious at www.myspace.com/thetonyjtrafficmusicawards and make sure you put "Vote for tmas: I vote for Devious for Promoter of the Year!"
