Describe Eliza are a four piece, soul infused electronic act from Melbourne, Australia. Known for their chill out groove, dance and soul, the band draws on a wide range of influences within the dynamic music culture in which they have formed. Exquisite song writing is always matched with a razor sharp performance. Describe Eliza are all about fun and the love for diverse styles of music they are distinctive and exciting!
Fronted by Eliza Hull on vocals, the group is given a truly unique female edge.
A vocalist who combines rhyme with soulful lyrics and melodies, Eliza delivers vocals that are powerful, emotive and extraordinarily introspective. Describe Eliza began two and a half years ago, when musician John Steer and vocalist Eliza Hull came together with a vision, the vision of mixing electronic dance music with different live instruments and styles. Now today, they have brought Josh Jones on bass, Leigh Fisher on Drums and Brett Scappin on guitar to create the describe eliza sound. Live, Describe Eliza send you on a journey of soulful chill out rhythm and melody, then send your body moving with their beats and groove creations. Though Describe Eliza are not just an ordinary electronic entourage, they are truly unique. They also combine guitars, live keyboards, synths, acoustic drums and vocals to create a truly live and organic texture. This is combined with electronic v-drums and kaos pad effects that enhance the organic sound and make it electronic. The band prides its self on the fact that everything they create on stage is live.
Describe Eliza have had a big two years of performing. They had their first TV appearance late 2005; where they performed on John Foreman’s The Big Night In on Channel 10. They have toured Adelaide and have performed at most clubs/pubs around Melbourne. Their live following has been rapidly growing with sellout shows all round. They have held strong residency’s at St Kilda’s Espy and Fitzroy’s the Evelyn. Supported local bands such as K-Oscillate, Shemesh and touring bands from overseas such as Stereo Mc’s, That One Guy and Crazy Penis. Describe Eliza have also been creating a buzz internationally for themselves; UK magazine Notion had a full-page interview out worldwide in late 2006, and they have just been added to Americans XM satellite radio, and Pulse radio which reaches wide America and UK. They have also been added to the international dance compilation CD Tunetank.
Describe Eliza recorded their debut single “I bet you never/Roll” in 2006 at Woodstock Studios, Melbourne Australia. They collaborated with Engineers Wil Burston and Andy Baldwyn, who have worked with a vast range of Australian and international acts including Unwritten Law, Killing Heidi and Morcheeba. They launched the single at the Hifi Bar in June 2006, to a solid crowd. Describe Eliza began 2007 with a bang, playing to a sold out show at the Evelyn, performing at the St Kilda Festival and went on tour to Sydney in March. They are also about to embark on recording there debut album which looks to be out by early 2008.
2007 is looking like a year Describe Eliza will most definitely remember. Keep a look out.

Aug 2007- News on the Describe Eliza front. We are in the middle of working on our album, we are at the pre-production stage and are looking forward to its release! We will be doing a couple of shows around, so keep checking the page.
But we will be back in full swing once the album is finished.
