in the sea, i see you,
Aphrodite,
playing out a scene from the movie Jaws.
you're in your polka-dot suit,
the one you say shows way too many
of your body's flaws.
me, i'm up to my knees,
trying to look cool,
a copy of Ulysses
between my Big Dumb claws.
you grab my feet and drag me,
down into the snotgreen,
and slip your hands gently on below.
and from what comes after,
we swam away in laughter,
leaving the book to the water
the sea-weed, seed and foam.
and then we caught the train home.
