andezzz

Edward Fernandez, popularly known as Andezzz, is a bassist, songwriter, arranger, producer, and DJ. He was one of the founders of SOVA, an Indonesian chillout/ soulfulhouse/ nujazz duo.



This multi-talented musician was a scholarship awardee and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston, majoring in Jazz Compositions. His musical experience was not only academical but also professional. He played for several music clubs and made some recordings in Boston and New York.



Before SOVA was formed, Andezzz had already been nominated for the best electronic/house music in Anugerah Music Indonesia Award 2003 (Indonesian Musical Award 2003) for his single "Bersama" recorded under an independent label in New York. In March 2004, Andezzz/SOVA was elected as MTV's Exclusive Artist of the Month.



Together with SOVA, Andezzz is widely known as the trendsetter for chillout/ soulfulhouse/ nujazz in Indonesia. Since 2003, they produced 2 albums and 2 EPs. As a solo artist, Andezzz' "Don't Make Me" made its way into the Jakarta Movement compilation. Jazz and electronica were only two of his numerous interests. He formed Nawaitu Project in 2006 with Yudhis Dwikorana (Guest Band), Yandi (Dewi Sandra), and several other musicians, and published a religious album "1000 Tahun Lagi".



Enough is never enough for this gifted musician. In 2007 he released his first solo album. He formed [Departure:People] with Alvin Lubis (Erwin Gutawa & Tohpati Band), Stâsha Luwia. He also recruited lots of talented young singers such like Amandia, Wisha Dewi, Dewi Andarini, BowWow SOulmate and many more to complete the lineup. Armed with his smooth jazz voices, Andezzz [Departure:People] released an album "MOVIN' ON" under Catz Records.



This album delivers chillout/soulfulhouse music a la Andezzz that will sway its listeners. His first single "Pergi" presents Andezzz' signature jazzy sounds. Andezzz includes a cover version of his favourite old tune, "Sinaran". This song showcases Andezzz' arranging skills by mixing the modern sound 'BrokenBeat', which is the basic element of NuJazz music.



MOVIN' ON is an indisputable evidence that Andezzz is a very talented musician, arranger, and producer. His talent shines not only in the recording studio, but also on stage.
