You may be mistaken for believing that all you need to do in order to become a pop star in this day and age is binge-eat, sing a few covers and then cry about how you never thought you'd make it whilst on national television. However, you wouldn't be mistaken, as this is exactly all you need to do. Simply enter any number of reality-show-karaoke-talent-contests, sing in a manner that fits in with the comfortable, track-proven-money-producing-mundane way, look like everyone else and possibly have something about your person that at first appears to be a major hindrance, but in actual fact becomes a vote-winning asset on account of the nation's shameful way of voting for the underdog. And hey presto, you're suddenly a pop idol. It's a marginally more glamorous job than working in a hardware shop, but probably less emotionally rewarding.
