We've launched a blog that features free downloads from The Deepcave Records family. The free downloads consist of unreleased material that didn't make it to albums, new albums that we're not pressing but want to give out for free none the less, and older cd's that we're no longer trying to push. Check it out at the following link:

Defining Deepcave is a hard task. Not only does it represent a production company responsible for keeping hip hop alive in Winnipeg and Thunder Bay during a time when no one else would take the reigns but it also represents a record label that plays host to a crew of some of central Canada's most skilled MC's, elite producers and most experienced live performers. As described by Uptown Magazine, "The Deepcave boyz may not catch as much ink as mood ruff or Peanuts & Corn but Big Bear, Royal-T, 40oz, Slopeye, P-Nut, DJ Poetics and Lev have been flying the flag for Winnipeg hip hop almost on their own since Garfield split for T.O. and mcenroe relocated." The Deepcave crew have been putting in work since the late 90's and they continue expand on their ever growing fan base embedding their print on the frozen Canadian prairies for years to come.
Since 2003, they've managed to release 13 albums under the Deepcave moniker building a devoted cult following. Deepcave albums have been received extremely well, gaining critical acclaim with reviews and praise in numerous notable magazines, websites, and bathroom walls. Deepcave albums have gotten rotation on College/ Community radio all over Canada, U.S.A. and even in several European cities.
Deepcave Records is home to a collection of MC's and producers with solo material as well as several groups combining different members of the label. Deepcave consists of:
Groups- Filthy Animals, Royal-T and Lev, Sleep Clinic, NWO, Nanibijou
Big Bear (Winnipeg, MB)- MC/Producer- Solo and part of the Filthy Animals, NWO and Deepcave;
Royal-T (Nanaimo, BC via Winnipeg, MB via Thunder Bay, ON)- MC- Solo and part of the NWO, Nanabijou, Royal-T and Lev, Indy Wars, The Yes Men and Deepcave;
P-Nut (Winnipeg, MB)- MC/Producer- Solo and as part of the Filthy Animals, the NWO, The Dead Indians, Slangblossom and Deepcave;
Webster Death (Thunder Bay, Ontario)- MC- solo;
Lev (Nanaimo, BC via WInnipeg, MB via Thunder Bay, ON)- MC/Producer- solo and part of the NWO, Nanabijou, Royal-T and Lev, NevLev and Deepcave;
40oz (Winnipeg, MB)- MC- part of the NWO and Deepcave;
Broms (Winnipeg, MB)- MC- part of the Filthy Animals;
Nevamind (Thunder Bay, ON)- MC/ Producer- solo and part of Nanabijou, Sleep Clinic, The Yes Men, NevLev;
Kenny Wu (Winnipeg, MB)- MC- part of the NWO and the Dead Indians.
Aside from creating and performing their music, members of Deepcave have done everything from winning mc battles to hosting their own weekly television and radio programs (Broms' "Signal to Noise" on SHAW TV, Winnipeg and Royal-T's "Breakdown Show" on CHLY 101.7FM, Nanaimo).
Boasting a high energy live show laced with mindboggling flows, comedic banter, and crowd participation, the Deepcave crew's on stage chemistry is always evident and their shows have become highly anticipated in central and western Canada. They've performed all over Canada and in select U.S cities receiving praise from audiences wherever they venture. The Deepcave crew has also been fortunate enough to tour with legendary New York rappers the Boot Camp Clik, with Los Angeles pioneer Abstract Rude (Project Blowed) and with fellow LA hip hop mainstay Awol One(the Shapeshifters).
Constantly networking, Deepcave has built a foundation to be reckoned with. Becoming the go to hip hoppers in their hometown of Winnipeg, they are the ambassadors to out of town and American acts. With collaborations remaining a top priority, they've worked with Canada's finest producers including DJ Moves (Low Pressure, Len), DJ Kutdown(Foultone Records) and Factor (Sideroad Records). Deepcave has also collaborated with MC's such as Brooklyn's Wordsworth (former host of MTV's Lyricist Lounge), Awol One (Shapeshifters crew, Los Angeles), Dope Poet Society (Toronto), Wormhole (Hawaii) and John Smith (Peanuts and Corn Records).
Without a single penny of help or investment, Deepcave was a major factor in keeping the hip hop flame lit in "Pegcity". They have put on Winnipeg's most succesful underground hip hop shows, bringing some of the world's greatest hip hop acts. Since 2003, they've shared the bill with the likes of Method Man and Redman, Masta Ace, Naughty By Nature, Black Moon, Necro, RA the Rugged Man, Non Phixion, D12, Royce Da 5'9, Joe Budden, Obie Trice, Wordsworth, Pharoahe Monch, Sean P, Smiff N Wessun, Tek N9ne, Slaughterhouse, Souls Of Mischief, Living Legends, Ill Bill, Awol One, Zion I, The Grouch, Aceyalone, DJ Craze, Brother Ali, Blueprint, Busdriver(Project Blowed), Abstract Rude, Swollen Members, The Crest, Eternia, Joe Dub, Subtitle, Josh Martinez, Classified, Sweatshop Union, DL Incognito and many more notable acts.
Deepcave, without a doubt, will go down in Canadian hip hop history with what has been accomplished thus far, but keep in mind, this is just the tip of the iceberg as the upcoming year is one of astronomical proportions which will see another 4 albums released under the Deepcave label to make a total of 6 Deepcave releases in 2010 alone. The Deepcave boys will also be on a busy touring schedule reaching out to audiences across the map.
As the accomplishments and accolades mount up, Deepcave will continue to experience growth beyond their city limits. With so much accomplished in the early stages of the label and business, it will be only a matter of time before true hip hop heads worldwide take notice and Deepcave receives its just deserts in the ranks of hip hop's elite.
