Chattanooga Free Times Press:

Best act you probably didn’t see today — Deep Blue Sun. When this Atlanta-based group of psychedelic jammers opened up the Bud Light Stage, podcaster Sean Phipps and I were blown away. Their combination of lead singer John Marsh’s soulful vocals and funky organ riffs with Matt Lynn’s impressive guitar shredding was incendiary. In some ways, they remind me of fellow Georgians the Allman Brothers Band and the soulful Mr. Randall Bramblett.

More.

DBS & Yonrico Scott:

Yonrico Scott of the Derek Trucks Band) once again joined DBS at our 2008 CD release party. Yonrico, in Hittin the Note Magazine, said:

"Deep Blue Sun is the best kept secret in the jamband world.

I so, so love jamming and vibing to Deep Blue Sun's funky grooves."

Bio:

Deep Blue Sun is a hypnotic blend of serious funk, melodic rock, southern-fried soul and west coast psychedelia. Blazing lead guitar, driving keys and a razor sharp rhythm section come together to make distinctive and highly danceable sound that takes the crowd on a non-stop ride. Their recent release "Live at Tree Sound" was named "Best Live CD of 2008" by Homegrown Music Network, and called"One of the best CDs of 2008" by Hittin' The Note magazine. Discover the band that Derek Truck's Yonrico Scott calls the "best kept secret in the jamband world."

DBS has been deeply rooted in the Georgia jam rock scene since the '90s. Formed from members of Apple Peru, The Grapes, Freak the Jones and Evan and Jaron, the six-piece line-up features Matt Lynn on lead guitar, John Marsh s, Kate Moore on guitar, Ben 'Buddha' Hernandez on bass, Steve Baird on percussion, and Ted Hoyer on drums. Their intense dedication to song-craft, tight intricate harmonies and stylistic stretches is what sets Deep Blue Sun apart, and the thrill of making music is what continues to inspire them to bring fresh material to each and every show.

Deep Blue Sun has shared the stage with The Derek Trucks Band, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Jimmy Herring, Warren Haynes, Karl Denson, Bob Weir, Little Feat, The Subdudes, The Radiators, Col. Bruce Hampton, Yonrico Scott, Ralph Roddenbery, Donna Hopkins, and many, many more. DBS can be found throughout the southeast playing major music festivals, clubs, pubs, parties, private events, the coolest living rooms, occasional stealth locations, and everywhere in between.
