Embodying all of the elements of funk, rock, soul, reggae, house , blues and ballads, Deepa Soul can not be defined by or confined to any particular genre, but "In order to feel her you gotta get Deep In Yo Soul!"
A native of New Orleans, Deepa's 'Gumbo' style of music has it's roots anchored in the church – gospel, and in school – classical ,jazz, marching band, pop music, big band, and New Orleans brass band; and parents who were gifted musicians themselves.
She evokes the nostalgic vocal styling of greats like Tina Turner, Mavis Staple, Gladys Night, Betty Davis, Candi Stanton and has been called the female James Brown.
Deepa Soul arrived in New York to "party like it's 1999" emerging from a bitter break-up and in that same year, she teamed up with Junior Vasquez to launch her very first single into the universe. 'Nowhere Love' was the result, breaking out on the Billboard Club Charts in the #3 spot behind Cher's #1 hit single 'Believe'.
Explosive and energetic Deepa's dynamic stage performances garnered the attention of other DJ/Producers like Quentin Harris, Mike Cruz, DJ Escape, DJ Skribble, Nick Harvey, DJ Jason Ojeda, DJ Jackie Christie and David Knapp. Appearing on top selling Dance Music Compilations, Deepa fortified her fan base by touring nationally and internationally.
2005, Junior Vasquez and Deepa Soul joined forces again to release a cover of the Sound Factory classic 'As I Am'. A #1 breakout 'As I Am' claimed the Hot Shot Debut and Power Pick all in consecutive weeks, peaking at the #4 spot on the Billboard Club Play Charts with the Pussycat Dolls at the #1 spot with "Don't Cha".
Complete with drums, percussion, bass, guitar, keys, horns and background vocals, Deepa Soul's self named band is a musical 'tour de force' in LIVE performances and… when the spirit moves she sometimes plays bass, percussion, keys and trombone.
Her penchant for costumes and high fashion add a colorful dimension to her eclectic stage shows fusing a nostalgic sound with a new birth edge.
