Maurice [CEO, Soul2Streets]

An award winning, self taught DJ & still one of the few staying true to performing with 100% vinyl at all live shows!

Inspired by the 1980s Hip Hop scene Fade was playing around with records at the age of 10 acquiring his first set of turntables in 1993 & graduating to the industry standard Technics 1200s in 1997/8.

Having cut his teeth entering battles across the UK from local/radio competitions to the world renowned Technics/DMC competitions he has gone up against some of the best technical DJs in the UK. (Taking a title in London 2003 - going up against over 90 DJs)

Taking inspiration from all areas of music he has developed his own creative style which balances musicality & flavour without getting overly technical. Having shown & proved that he can perform in almost any arena.

After taking DJ competitions as far as he wanted Fade took his skills to the Club circuit getting his first residency at VITAL Promotions in B’ham 2001. Since then he has toured all over the South of the UK. Performing with established UK talent like Chipmunk, Estelle, Klashnekoff, Ny, Romeo & Wiley to US artists such as Blu Cantrell & Coolio plus at events such as The Sprite Urban Games, various B Boying, dance & MC battles plus both Bristol, Reading & Gloucester Festivals.

Fade has taken his writing & photographic skills to print by working for Big Daddy/Grandslam music magazines interviewing pioneers such as Charlie Chase (Cold Crush/Wildstyle) more recently he has become involved with Community Radio hosting The Late Manoeuvres Show (2003-2008) where he interviewed everyone from Tim Westwood to Chamillionaire. Now with his new Saturday Night Flava show 6-8pm which he hosts on monthly rotation with Martin In Full Swing.

He has also guest featured on commercial / pirate radio stations such as Galaxy 101FM (Bristol), Smooth 98.2FM (Birmingham) & Déjà Vu 102.3FM (London).

He was recruited to Atlantic/Warner Records Street Team during Carnival 2005, where he has worked on campaigns for artists such as Ironik, Kano & Wiley in the UK as well as Flo Rida, TI, Missy Elliott, Fat Joe, Sean Paul & Lupe Fiasco in the US. He also had major input in developing the online marketing strategy for the labels UK representation.

More recently Fade has juggled his other commitments with Community Youth Work in his home town of Gloucester from centre based to out reach work. Fade has facilitated DJ Workshops with Young People from a variety of backgrounds from Inclusion Projects to Youth Centres, Schools & even Italian exchange students. This year he has already been hired to facilitate DJ Workshops by several local agencies including the local City Council and the BBC.

He is also Tour DJ for South West Hip Hop group No Morals & Toy Soldiers Breaking crew.

"To me a DJ is NOT all about: money, girls & big egos. but ALL about quality music, talented artists & creative performance."
