Decimus started in the spring of 2007 when two friends and former band mates, Ben Grace and Sean Said, decided to start a project that would come to be known as "Virulence". The metal duo began searching for more members to methodically beat the crap out of their instruments with them, and found a bass player in long time friend and fellow heavy guitar abuser Brian Sisk. After collaborating on material for a while they decided, naturally, to start auditioning drummers. The search ended when John Yeates was appointed to high chancellor of banging on shit.

Only one week later, a vocalist by the name of Nick Evans contacted Virulence and an audition was set up between Sean, Ben and Nick. Nick’s ungodly ability to scream, sing and raise hell were a nightmare come true for the two guitarists. Nick’s face melted from the power of their performance; he was immediately assimilated into the band. Virulence began toiling away in dark basements, developing solid material and a severe vitamin-D deficiency. They thought it was a good idea to play some shows. Here’s a fun fact; their first show, Yeatestock, landed Nick in jail! Real role models, these guys.

Anyway, it turns out that the name "Virulence" was already taken, so after enough brainstorming to solve world hunger "Decimus" was chosen as the band’s new identity. Decimus soon parted ways with John Yeates, due to stylistic issues . He was proceeded by Kyle Andersen (formerly of Heir to the Throne) as high chancellor of banging on shit.

Now Decimus marches on, perfecting it’s brutal auditory assault and rubbing elbows with badass bands and fans in the process.

Decimus has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with:

A Life Once Lost, Divine Heresy, Suicide Silence, The Agony Scene, Behold the Alliance, Severend, Out of the Suffering, Seeking Surreal, Forlorn Hope, Soul Descenders, And So It Was Written, Ancient Creation, and Caesura.
