East London MC and heavy-weight Producer Stefan Mensah aka DDark, is more than set to stamp his way into 2011, as he positions himself in the music industry as a unique artist and versatile producer.
No way a stranger to the scene, DDark began his musical career as a teen appearing on pirate radio stations known for breaking raw talent in the then emerging Grime scene, Mistiq fm, Heat fm, and De Ja Vu fm to name just a few; whilst steadily developing his musical abilities in music production, playing the piano and guitar.
With unique character and style of delivery, DDark caught the attention of the scene's core fans and peers; joining independent label Aftershock at the age of 16 alongside artists Terror Danjah, Bruza and Brit Award Nominee Tinie Tempah, as well as going on to work with a number of other artists including Chipmunk. Developing his craft as a respected Grime producer DDark became responsible for many underground gems including 'Mission Riddim,' which saw an influx of MCs laying down their own vocal versions on the production.
Having since made a number of appearances on radio stations Kiss fm, BBC1xtra and BBC Radio1, with support from Djs Logan Sama, DJ Cameo and Mary Anne Hobbs, DDark has taken the time to develop his sound even further. “I have a very unique style, and great production skills that I have developed over the years. I make all types of genres of music - Hip-Hop, RnB, Grime, Dubstep, Funky house, Pop, House/Electro. I use music to express the feelings that circulate in my life and for people to enjoy.” 2008 saw the release of cheeky video 'Temptation ft S.Kid' on Channel U (now Channel AKA), accumulating approximately 150,000 views; while latest efforts including the solo single 'One' (2010) showcases his charismatic personality and diverse production ability with over 27,000 independent Youtube views; and Bassline infused Dance production for UK rapper Xploder reaches well over 130,000 views on Youtube.
Following the release of his mixtape 'There's No Stopping This Guy' in Oct 2010, this year sees the emergence of a more focused DDark, ready to make great impact as both an artist and all round producer. Upcoming mixtape 'Focused Reality,' mainly produced and vocalled by DDark himself, begins to depict just who DDark really is in the minds of his listener, backed up with a variation of sounds to suit every mood. With a number of collaborations already lined up for 2011 including the single 'Star' by DDark and new singer/songwriter Fola, an EP due for release late 2011, and a work rate to match his high energy productions DDark is sure to be set into the focus of many.
