Davy Cowan: Singer, Songwriter, Guitar Slinger, Troubadour, Poet, Song & Dance Man
Davy Cowan’s songs encapsulate the essence of many of the stories and situations that have inspired him over the years: people, places, old memories, faces; journeys on trains, ferries, planes - and a clapped out converted Ford Transit minibus.
The red morning sky; thunder clouds over the Cromarty Firth & her rusting meccano set oil rigs, which cast a menacing shadow across the shores beneath them.
The Love and The Pain and the Beauty of witnessing offspring grow - ever evolving - linking the future with a long forgotten past which in our time now is destined to be!
With Davy’s many different musical influences, it’s almost impossible to pigeonhole his music into any one musical genre.
Within a mercurial melting pot of ideas and styles, his acoustic based contemporary Folk/Roots music - with its hints of Bluegrass, Country and Pop - still manages to retain an energy and spirit thats been ongoing through the years
Since the release of his highly acclaimed debut album “Fragile People” back in 2005. Davy has been busy touring and writing and is now proud to announce the release of his new album entitled “The Journey”. For this venture he returned to work with engineer Pete Rawson (“Fragile People”) at Redwood Studios, Newmore, for the recording. Davy was joined in the studio by his band “The Storm Chasers”, who provided some truly magical musical moments throughout the record.
The new album features ten self penned tracks which may be familiar to those of you who have caught some of Davy’s shows on the live circuit. He continues to map out a positive & creative journey through our ever-changing times with his usual vibrant energy!!!
“The Journey” is scheduled for its official release on Monday 4th April 2011 on Pictish Pop Records; with an album launch at The Ironworks Venue, Inverness on Saturday 16th April 2011.
"With the Earth finally drained of all it's natural resources and the
warnings of yesterday a faint whisper in the breeze, our spent hopes and
aspirations of a perfect World lies wounded and decaying, an industrial
graveyard created by mans overwhelming hunger for greed and power. The key
to the door leading to a land so pure, lost in the dark murky waters,
that once was a clear river, rich with life,
a free gift thrown back in the face of Mother Nature."
