New York City based singer-songwriter David Ryan has just wrapped up recording his first EP titled, “To My Knowledge”, which features 5 original songs he penned in the course of 4 months. His knack for catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and impressive vocals is evident after a single listen. Inspired by an eclectic group of artists ranging from Isaac Slade, Sara Bareilles, Rufus Wainwright, to Christina Aguilera and Michael Jackson…his songs incorporate streams of soul, pop, & soft rock.

Raised in South Jersey, the emerging artist relocated in 2008 to New York City where he has been writing, recording, and performing through out the city, at venues including the legendary BITTER END. His impressive credits began at the early age of 15 when renowned vocal coach, Sal Dupree, noticed David during a showcase in Philadelphia. Dupree would later introduce David to former A&R Director of Capitol Records, “Roy Hamilton” who immediately brought him into the studio to begin recording a demo which caught the attention of musical mogul Paris D’Jon (Jessica Simpson, 98 Degrees). D’jon auditioned the young singer for his boy band but after hearing David’s unique quality, offered the then, 18 year old, a development deal as a solo artist on his management company.

“My past relationships with people in this industry have only helped me grow and learn about the business. I know it’s a bit cliché but things really do happen for a reason. I am enjoying each step along the way…it is all apart of my journey.”

In 2009, David broke away from the industry and focused on his second year of college. This time away from the music business allowed for self discovery and growth. “I’ve experienced a lot in the last year or so…and I have things I need to sing about. My voice and writing have a come along way. I’m finally comfortable in my own skin and I hope to encourage others to be true to themselves.”

David hopes listeners will appreciate the sincerity in his lyrics.

“I’m young and have a lot of things I hope to accomplish. Right now I’m really focused on my singing again. My music definitely has pop inflections…but it isn’t bubblegum. I put a lot of sentiment and thought into my lyrics. If people are going to listen I want to make sure I’m saying something worth listening to.” - 2010
