David is a versatile drummer and percussionist in the Los Angeles area with a unique style that took years to develop. A key element of David’s approach is playing the right groove for the song and making it interesting. David has been playing for over 20 years and is the youngest child of a music-loving family. He started playing his older brother’s drum kit at a very early age and his brother helped him with some early instructions and basic exercises. This gave him a good foundation for playing drums but the desire came naturally. Influenced by his brother’s diverse record collection, he started listening to bands such as King Crimson, Genesis, Weather Report, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Chick Corea, Shadowfax, Deep Purple, Shakti and many more.

At age 13, David began attending Metronome Drum School in Israel studying Rock, Funk, Jazz, Pop, complex coordination exercises and reading under David Rich’s supervision (The Metronome later became the David Rich Drum School). After drumming locally in Israel, David moved to England and performed with some local bands before relocating to the U.S. where he has resided ever since. David lived in New York for a couple of years, meeting some incredible musicians and attending several master classes at Drummer Collective before moving to the NW area. He stayed busy with the local scene, but the search to discover more kept on growing and David packed his stuff and moved to California and has lived in the Los Angeles area since 2002. Since moving to California, David has played on several CDs and performed with great musicians such as electric violinist James Sudakow, bassist Matt Bissonette, Zakir Hussain, L. Shankar and Gingger, bassist Tim Emmons, keyboard player Ron Snyder, cellist Jessica Catron, cellist Jen Kuhn and many more. David also performed and toured with his band, Human Life Index, in which he has been a co-writer and a co-creator. He also mixed and co-produced their first CD titled “Welcome To.” Human Life Index has opened for Steve Vai, King's X, EchoBrain, Reeves Gabrels (David Bowie), Lili Haydn (George Clinton), Apex Theory and more. HLI’s second release which was recorded, engineered and mixed by David, will be available later this year/09. (humanlifeindex.com)David also recorded drum tracks for the 1st solo release from electric violinist James Sudakow (evexp.com) titled “Green” which is a great instrumental CD, featuring Matt Bissonette on bass and produced by Eric Zimmermann (under-radio.com). The CD has received national airplay and has garnered great reviews, including these quotes from Music Connection Magazine: "Green is a dramatic and exciting collection of instrumental songs that show just how scary a talent this violinist is. I for one would love to see him hook up with a hot guitarist and keyboard player, add in Gaziel and Bissonette, and you would have one of the most lethal fusion machines alive today" and "Gaziel is a human metronome with precise timing and subtle finesse"

"I for one would love to see him hook up with a hot guitarist and keyboard player, add in Gaziel and Bissonette, and you would have one of the most lethal fusion machines alive today. Frighteningly good." Pete Pardo, Sea of Tranquility.
