I've finally had a chance to listen to Hanging From Aldo.
Beautifully crafted songs with arrangements and production that do them justice. I particularly like the honesty and natural touch of his voice - no pretentions, to me it reads straight from the heart. It is very evocative of Neil Finn and Crowded House but is in no way a derivative of them. A fine singer/songwriter
Tony McMahon (live review)- Inpress Magazine
"Hearty, foot stomping, down to earth, slightly mellow rock'n'roll bounces off terrifically adroit songwriting and the pure, infectious joy of performance to create an atmosphere of musical pleasure.
Tony McMahon (album review)- Inpress Magazine
"For anyone who values meaningful music and songwriting, wedded to memorable melodies and a startlingly original though warmly familiar voice, this is a record you simply cannot live without. More resonant for me, personally, than any release in recent years, Hanging From Aldo also manages the not inconsiderable- actually downright astonishing- feat of being instantly accessible and gregarious as well, and I can think of little music with as much impact. Quirkily, Cosma plays a right-handed guitar left-handed."
Wildy Haskell- Wildy's World
"The end result is very interesting listening that is nuanced and discreet. What You Just Said is a great acoustic guitar-based tune wrapped around the dysfunctions in a relationship. Cosma’s mix of melody and lyrical genius here is amazing This is a very rewarding CD for folks who give it the proper time and attention. David Cosma creates on a level with someone like Daniel Lanois." Rating: 5 Stars (Out of 5).

"This first offering from David Cosma highlights hallmarks from some of my favorite music.
Maybe the swirling, effect ridden guitar parts of Sentimental Shoe reminded me of Pink Floyd. Perhaps the Crowded House harmonies and melodies in other tracks showcased some influence from the Finn brothers? My pick for the top song has to be "Doesn't Really Matter", the emotional content and raw, simple lyrics sung with passion and pain"

"I just love this track (Out of Me)…. The guitar melody is unforgettable and just so beautiful. Such a well constructed song with great lyrics. What a top track."
BIOFor David Cosma, an affiliation with music began at a very early age. Obsessed with
the music of the 50's and 60's, he was lured into holding his guitar left handed, like his
childhood idol Paul McCartney. The only problem was that it wasn't a left handed
bass, rather a right handed guitar! He persisted with this unorthodox method of
guitar playing, which has developed into his trademark sound, his guitar and
vocal at the forefront of his songs. From the age of 16, he formed bands and
played live regularly, gaining experience around the Melbourne music scene,
in pubs and clubs. In 2003, he co-founded and fronted Melbourne based
indie band Mistamash. A well known act in the Melbourne music scene,
the band parted ways in early 2006 after three EP releases.
2007 was a turning point for the Melbourne songwriter. David made the
decision to leave his full-time job and focus solely on his music and
many months, a home studio and an album worth of songs later,
the idea of Hanging From Aldo and a debut album were born
Recorded, produced and mixed by acclaimed producer Rob Feaster,
Hanging From Aldo (2008 Regal Records) was completed in early 2008
and was officially released on August 29th 2008. The album
draws inspiration from all angles. From Tupelo to the Mersey, from
bed-sheets to honesty, from teenage brawls to bike crashes and
many things in between. With elements of accordion, keyboard,
percussion, creaking chairs and harmonies, this album will feature
at the top of your play list.
With a mountain of shows since mid 07, David has beaten a path around
Melbourne and up the east coast. More interstate shows are planned for
later this year.
