On 15th February 2009 Wire Sound will release "Satellite Sweetheart".This debut collection of solo recordings features brand new collaborations of brand new material from fellow band members Howard Devoto,

Barry Adamson, John Doyle and the late John McGeoch.

Additional performances are supplied by guest vocalists and musicians

David McAlmont, Robert Wyatt, Corinne Drewery, Joel Purnell,

Dennis Rollins and Clint Boon, even.

'Satellite Sweetheart', draws on Formula’s childhood in Whalley Range, Manchester. The striking childhood memory that inspired the collection

is of Dave being taken to see Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who, after becoming the first man in space in 1961, made anappearance at the Amalgamated Union of Foundry Workers in Brook’s Bar, Manchester, in a show of proletarian solidarity.

Dave Formula is perhaps best know for his work with Magazine. Long regarded as one of the most significant British bands, the band's work has recently been re-mastered by Sean Magee of Abbey Road studios and re-issued by Virgin EMI.

Along with Magazine cohorts John McGeoch and Barry Adamson, Dave joined Steve Strange, Midge Ure, Billy Currie and Rusty Egan in Visage for two very successful albums before leaving to concentrate on Strongroom Studios which he founded in the mid 80's.

Dave rejoined his Magazine Bandmates for five sold out shows in February 2009 to great critical acclaim. In Summer 2009 Magazine played several European festivals and The Royal Festival Hall. The band closed the year with appearances on Later With Jools Holland and BBC Electric Proms.
