"The other night I had the chance to see and hear Dave play at the Burren in Boston, and from the moment he took the stage, his music and personality were in total command of the crowd. Not only was his band kickin with top shelf players, but songs like No Resistance offered foot stompin fun while more contemplative tunes like Sorrow and The King is Dead were as powerful as they were poignant. Dave is a young master of his craft and one can only imagine the heights his talent can acheive."

- Patrick Faucher, CEO nimbit

Dave Coffin's musical journey into the acoustic singer songwriter world started at nine years old when he received his first guitar. It was an American Fender Stratocaster (not acoustic) given to him by his father, who would sing "Sweet Baby James" to him every night before going to sleep; while his mother choreographed dances with his stuffed animals to classical music. This is all very sweet, but Dave's musical tastes went by the way of Greenday, and his earliest band experiences were driven by hardcore music. Dave Matthews entered the musical arena and changed Dave's musical sensibilities for good.

The independent spirit of writing songs on his own, and the comfort of the acoustic guitar lead Coffin to the singer songwriter genre; writing songs and recording them for over 6 years. College brought him from the rural roads of Maine to Boston, where he began his pursuit of music, following in the footsteps of his fellow Mainers and musical influences Ellis Paul and Patty Griffin. Coffin is on his way to filling their shoes in the highly competitive and well revered Boston acoustic music scene.

Dave Coffin's current CD release "The King is Dead" proves that he is destined to make his mark as one of New England's top songwriters and performers. His insights on life are a little beyond his years, which is evident in this current batch of songs both personally and politically driven. Though he never thought of himself as a love song writer, his recent engagement to his high school sweetheart has lead him to reflect insightfully on what has made his life so full through the years. The songs "What Kind of Love is This", "I Don't Think You Love Me" and "Smooth Sailing" give insight about all the up and down patterns that relationships tend to go through. While in the title track "The King is Dead" he uses his studies of the French Revolution to express his frustration with the current political climate. Coffin's excellent guitar skills incorporate a lot of rhythm to keep the songs moving, coupled with his smooth, yet powerful voice and dynamic melodies, the sound is sublime.

Musically, this album is masterfully recorded with some of the most talented musicians Boston has to offer. The cast includes Coffin's band mates Chuck Anastasiou, Kevin O'Brien, and Dave Jamrog. Cast list of guests include a few of Coffin's hero's who have become friends and supporters of his music. Al Kooper (former organ player for Bob Dylan and producer of Lynrd Skynrds first three albums), Ryan Zoidis (Sax player for Soulive), and Duke Levine (Guitar player for Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Gorka, Kathy Mattea).

Dave has been invited to play with the likes of Al Kooper, Ellis Paul, Ryan Fitzsimmons and Adam Ezra. He continues to play all over New England, exciting audiences with his genuine and charismatic stage presence.
