This Rosebank resident's career started the day he graduated from eighth grade -- and his brother-in-law gave him turntables as a present. His first big gig as a DJ was not long afterwards, when he was asked to spin his sister's wedding.
"She's still married," laughs Estrella, 26. "So I guess it was successful."
While he still plays the occasional super sweet 16 party or wedding on the Island, he's pretty much graduated from the local scene as well. Look on Estrella's MySpace page, and you'll see the DJ's schedule in the next few months taking him from Manhattan to Philadelphia to Las Vegas and beyond.
"I do a lot of corporate events all over the place," says Estrella, whose entertainment company Music 2 the Max sits on Hylan Boulevard. "I usually spin Top 40 stuff: Hip-hop, R&B, dance, pretty much everything that's new."
Estrella's favorite gig ever was a New Year's Eve event in India, where he played a two-hour set in front of 10,000 people. This weekend, he's going all out at an exclusive corporate event at the Downtown Marriott, where Music 2 the Max's package will include a huge lighting scheme on truss towers, and go-go dancers with angel wings.
For now, it'll be hard to catch the corporate darling, but Estrella's playing so many major metro areas in the next few months, a vacation trip just might land you in the vicinity of a club where you don't have to be a partner to get in.
