Panamanian Pianist and Composer Danilo Perez started his musical studies at just three years of age with his father, a bandleader and singer. He moved to the US at 16 years of age and studied at Berklee College of Music. From 1985-88, he performed and recorded with Jon Hendricks, Claudio Roditi, Paquito D'Rivera, and Arturo Sandoval. Since the late 80s, he has also toured and/or recorded with Jack DeJohnette, Charlie Haden, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, Tito Puente, Wynton Marsalis, John Patitucci, Tom Harrell, Gary Burton, Wayne Shorter, Roy Haynes, Steve Lacy, and other notable jazz musicians.

In addition to leading his own ensembles, Danilo is currently a member of the new Wayne Shorter Quartet (since 2001) who won a grammy for Beyond The Sound Barrier and was voted Best Small Ensemble of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association in June, 2002 and 2006.

Currently, Danilo performs with his own trio worldwide and serves as full time professor at the New England Conservatory, part time faculty of Berklee College of Music, Ambassador to UNICEF, Artistic Director of the Panama Jazz Festival and President of the Danilo Perez Foundation.
