Daniel Peterson

Born in Newtown, Sydney and residing in London.
With my father and eldest brother both pianists, middle brother a drummer, I started out on piano at age 6 and moved over to electric guitar and drums at 12 years old. It was hard not to get involved in making music, growing up in such a musical environment.
I briefly set about learning a few riffs from my favourite bands on guitar, and soon discovered that I could write my own ideas, and that this felt really good. So, at age 15, I got myself an evening job after school each day, washing dishes to save up to buy a 4 track tape recorder, and began putting ideas onto tape. This birthed a number of bands through my teenage years, where I was the principle songwriter. Nothing consequential at that stage, however I knew, decidedly early on, that my love of making music wasn't just some fleeting hobby, it was here to stay.
One of the bands I formed with my middle brother was asked to perform an hour of original songs at my year 12 school formal after party. But we had only all been together a matter of weeks, so hadn't written any lyrics. We went ahead anyway, confidently playing our instrumental ideas. An A&R lady from Mushroom Records happened to be there and came up to us after we had played, so impressed, handed over a message that she wrote down on a beer coaster asking us to get in contact when we'd written some lyrics to the songs.
Not a month later, determined to make something of this, I packed all my things, sold possessions, and moved to London. I had decided that the capital was the place to establish my music. In London, I started out by playing guitar in Bottlerockit and Audiogene, bass in Paperadio, singing briefly in Enjoy Destroy and more recently drumming with CYMBALS. However, my solo aspirations were well underway whilst in Audiogene, and in 2007, my first recording entitled 'Strawberry Blonde EP' was launched. Intent on firmly establishing myself as a solo artist, I played, recorded and mixed everything myself, a tradition that has continued with the forthcoming album 'Welcome To My House Bumblebee', set for release summer 2012.
