The son of a hypochondriac cartographer and her nomadic butcher husband, Daniel Gibson has lived the all-American dream. While his mother battled her demons by out-pioneering Magellan, Daniel sat on roughly hewn porch steps mastering the art of finger-picking with a guitar that had begun life as a washboard. When his father would return from knife-wielding walkabouts, Daniel would serenade the family with melodic tales of humorous woe and woeful humor and while they could never quite tell the difference, his parents always smiled and clapped when the last notes flickered and faded.
If Bob Dylan were still alive it's likely that he would label Daniel Gibson the new "Spokesman Of A Generation." From the coalmines of Stone Mountain, Georgia to the deep blue of the Chesapeake, Daniel's music has captured the imagination of literally dozens of people. As his fame and following have ballooned, Daniel has dutifully pressed on toward his ultimate goal: earning a spot on the United States' National Table Tennis Team.
If there is anything that Daniel Gibson loves more than music, it's a good muffin. It would probably be more precise to say that if one could figure out how to string a muffin, Daniel would have no use for a guitar. Fetishes aside, Daniel has risen above the lassitude of a non-traditional home life to place himself squarely in the exceptional tradition of Nashville's singer-songwriter community.
Since arriving in Tennessee, Daniel Gibson has written and recorded a highly lauded EP available on iTunes and his music has become admiringly regarded within the alt-country fraternity. Daniel excels as both a vocalist and an instrumentalist, but his bona fide genius lies in song-writing. Combining the lyrical restlessness of Johnny Cash and the frenetic passion of Ryan Adams, Daniel's lyrics and melodies carve out a niche of thoughtfulness, yearning and desperation without stumbling into cloying cliché.
