Dan Gober-Junk Rawk!
Dan Gober, a native
of
Philadelphia
,
PA
, is a singer / songwriter who has been an active member of the music
scene for over 15 years. From his early rock roots to his intricate work
with sound experiments, he has always been crafting his many different
genres of tunes and styles. Dan gets his inspirations from life
experiences and has written and recorded ‘hundreds’ of songs. When not
on stage performing, Dan is working in the studio, Lunar Face Records, a
partnership-owned company with Buddy Sweets.
Dan Gober has been pushing the envelope for solo acoustic performers.
Onstage with his supercharged presence and his blend of humor and wit, in
a deep gritty voice he sings about women, fried chicken, money, death and
whiskey. Dressed in angel wings and a sharp suit he’ll cut his way into
your backbone. Making you shake your trunk to his signature Junk Rock.
Dan’s debut album,
“little fish,” is a collection of music written during 2005. It
features his latest style of soulful vocals and melodic progressions,
grouping together some new musicians as well as some great old friends.
His live performances leave people blown away and wanting more of his
signature “junk rock.” Prior to his solo career, Dan has had success
with several other projects including TV Heroes and ennui.
TV Heroes was formed
in late 2001 by Dan Gober and his brother, Buddy Sweets. The music
consisted of catchy tunes that ranged in style from rock, blues, reggae,
rockabilly, folk, and even a little country. Dan and Buddy made it a point
to have as much fun as possible with their songwriting and performances.
Dan formed a side
project, Peels, in 1997 to experiment with songs and sounds. He recorded
seven albums in four years. Peels went on to become a song bin for pieces
that did not work for TV Heroes or ennui and is still an active project.
ennui began in 1994
and within three years became a well respected
Philadelphia
band, remaining the mystery behind their complex arrangements. Their
luscious spacey landscapes of delayed guitars and liquid light shows
created a stir and won them a noted following in the area. They released
their debut album, “Show Low” in 1998 and their highlight was opening
for Ween at their hometown bar, John & Peters, in
New Hope
,
PA.
Whether performing solo or with the full band. You can be sure that
this Junk Man is gonna rock.
