Dangerous Betty

Take VH1’s “Behind the Music” and mix it with “Sex and the City” and you’ve got the new dual media project: “The Soundtrack of a Diary”. It’s a book/CD combination where each chapter of the journal style book relates to its correlating song on the CD. Ever wonder what inspired that song? Here are the stories, written as they were happening, that paved the way for the music.



The project is written by singer/songwriter Beth Lynn Cohen. Originally from Long Island, Beth earned her degree in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami. While in Miami she learned to sing in Spanish, which allowed her to work for both American and Latin artists. She began touring with Latin pop sensation Jon Secada, and continued from there.



She has sung live background vocals for numerous recording artists including The Bee Gee’s, Kelly Clarkson, Julio Iglesias, Queen Latifah, Gloria Estefan, and Isaac Hayes. She has recorded backgrounds for Barbra Streisand, Pink, and Alejandro Sanz. Beth has also toured the world with Chayanne and Debra Gibson, amongst others. She has appeared on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the Tonight Show and the Rosie O’Donnell Show.

Because of her great knowledge of the voice, she also has been called in to vocal coach artists including Scott Stapp (Creed), Desmond Child (writer – Livin’ La Vida Loca), Danny Wood (New Kids on the Block), Lindsay Lohan, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Chayanne, and Alejandra Guzman.



Beth’s first independent CD, “Dangerous Betty” paved the way for her writing success. Following its release, she began writing with others and soon placed “These Walls” for artist Teddy Geiger (the Rocker) that hit number 5 on TRL.



Her life in the music business inspired so much of the content of the project. It combines great songs, with great stories. It’s amusing, it’s naughty, it’s sad, and it’s inspiring. It’s worth taking a listen. It’s worth taking a look.
