Danejahrus

Danejahrus, more formally known as Dane Strachan, is a renowned dancehall, gospel artist whose lyrical depth places him in a category that's second to none! Though, primarily, a dancehall artist, his musical versatility catapults him to an arena that's far beyond the norm, transcending various cultures and genres, such as, hip hop and R&B. Born on the island of Grand Bahama to parents of diverse cultural backgrounds, father being Bahamian and mother Jamaican, Danejahrus was exposed, at an early age, to reggae music. He believes that this factor played an intricate role on his style of music. Danejahrus asserts, "I've been listening to and playing reggae music as far back as I can remember. Often rehearsing lyrics to the popular tunes of that day, I used to play my mother's old reggae LP's on our record player." He continues, "Although, dancehall is my first love, I like to spread my wings and step out the box. Occasionally, I would pen lyrics to R&B tracks, which I also produce, as well as to reggae rhythms and hip hop beats. The end result is a smooth blend, I think, if done right".
His debut CD, a mixed tape, entitled Danger Zone, has, recently, been released this past April (2009). This lyrically volatile, extremely motivational, yet relevant, album includes tracks such as "Woman of Virtue", on which Danejahrus delivers smooth, dancehall vocals depicting the exemplary lifestyle of a Christian young woman, and "Regardless", featuring Monty G, already a favorite amongst DJs. It, also, includes the track "Dear Jesus", on which he inscribes a letter to his Lord and Savior concerning various social ills plaguing society today, and tracks such as "Can't Do We Nothing", where he uses hardcore, dancehall style lyrics to provoke Christians to understanding their position in Christ. These are just a few of his astounding tracks, not to mention tracks such as "Get, Thee, Behind Me" and "Jesus Too Sweet", where he taps into the vintage style of his dancehall predecessors. In addition to that, he's currently in the studio with extraordinary vocalists, such as, Dano Rolle, Sharai Thomas and, gospel song bird from Trinidad and Tobago, Ria Mark (Strachan), who's currently working on R&B and contemporary recordings.
Though, just emitting his freshman release, this dancehall artist is no stranger to the music industry. He has been "DJing" or chanting for the past 18 years. Ten years ago, he decided to surrender his talents to the Lord Jesus Christ, and has been writing, producing and recording gospel music in his studio - Lion's Den Recording Studio - ever since. Danejahrus is, also, a member of the well-known Lion Of Judah Music Group, and has traveled various places throughout the Caribbean and the United States performing and ministering songs.
In 2006, Danejahrus was nominated for two Marlin awards. One, of which, was, "producer of the year", with Ronnie "DJ Frost" Cash, for production on Mr. Lynx's smash record, "Prophetic Fire", on which he wrote the lyrics for the hit song "Tomorrow". Determined to become a legendary song writer, this brilliant, lyricist has written over 200 songs, to date, and counting. He has, also, been nominated in the 2009's Marlin awards for an additional two awards, "best male dancehall vocalist" - on "Love You So Much" - and "best adapted song" with Monty G for the song, "Dollar Bill".
Though, well-known for chanting to hardcore dancehall beats, Danejahrus, by no means, wishes to limit himself to solely writing dancehall lyrics, but rather, he aspires to maximize his God-given talents. Optimistic to what the future holds, he is convinced that music is the most powerful tool for evangelism. He states that, "Your music can go to the ends of the earth; places your feet may never trod; cities, settlements and towns where preachers have yet to venture. Its influences are far beyond your imagination. It has a way…it just stays with you. It stays in your mind, influencing your very thoughts and actions. I feel blessed to be called by God to do what I do. I love it! I wouldn't trade it for the world!" he exclaims. "It's a joy and a certain level of fulfillment, most people may never get to experience, when one does what he is called to do".
