Da Bloc

Da Bloc is an independent record label in Baltimore, MD that was conceptualized and incorporated by CEO Jermarl "Marty" Jones and President Diwee "Son" Sewell in 2000. The label was officially launched after the signing of Los in 2002 and has established itself as a major independent entity. Da Bloc has been a driving force in the streets and the mix cd circuit. The company had taken a hiatus for [some time] without any releases from the artist or events given in efforts to make changes and restructure the company. But in 07-08 with back to back mix cd releases, historic events and endless performances by the artist, Da Bloc is BACK and has made even more of an impact on the music industry than prior years!



LOS released several mix cds in 07-08 but he has the streets on fire with his "G5" series! He has released several versions of the mix cd i.e. G5 "Certified",G5" Special Edition" and G5.2. These volumes has far exceeded sales of mix cd releases in Baltimore including any past releases from Da Bloc records. Los & his mix cds has such a strong following that every major promoter has incorporated G5 into the marketing scheme of one of their concerts and/or events in 07-08. Baltimore native Mario & Los did a remix to "Crying out for me" & "Music for love" and featured it on the G5 series. The response to the remixes was so overwhelming that it prompted Mario to have Los perform on several dates with him while he was on tour. Los was also featured on the Gangsta Grillz tour with Young Jeezy, DJ Drama, UGK, B.G etc. If he is not performing and releasing mix cds Los has been building up his catalog writing for some well known artist in the music industry. Fans has been swarming with request for the song that he pinned on Cheri Dennis album entitled "Showdown". His performances has been in high demand on youtube and he has hundreds of thousands of viewers logging on to watch the rise of a susperstar!



Tonio from the Top has been making alot of noise in the hood with his mix cd release "Grind Hard or Find GOD". A contrast from Los, Tonio found his own lane by being true to his self & making music for his hood. His music has been characterized as "edgier" or "hard" but Tonio found the balance of telling his story in a way that the masses can relate to it. Though he embodies the hood Tonio proves he is not one dimensional with songs like "Show off" an ode to females who are independent & doing well. He takes somewhat of a civil stance on "Take it to da streets" when he talks about the role we play in the oppression of our hoods by not applying ourselves and working hard to achieve success. Tonio's music is a mirror that shows us the true us, he doesn't only tell you one side of the hood. For every hustler who is tossin it up buying nice cars and cribs- there are ten more taking losses, going to prison and going broke.Tonio is one of the realest rappers since Tupac, he gives you an introspective look into his world-good & bad.



D.R.O.P. is an acronym for die respected or powerful! He has been featured on all of Da Blocs realeases and he has been building a strong fanbase. Drop has an unorthodox flow and the fact that he won't stick to the traditional 16's and the same old word play has given him a uniqueness. It is hard to stand out but Drop does it with originality. Also, the fact that he is one of the best live performers on Da Bloc's talented roster sets him apart in the public's eye. Drop has a bright future ahead of him and with a couple strong releases he too, will be on his way to stardom.



Da Bloc is B-more's representative to the world. This city is full of talent but no other movement has been as legendary in the streets. Baltimore is Da Bloc and the company needs support from the city to help push the movement to the top of the charts. Look forward to this company having a bright future.
