Formed by Joe Cady, Dick Ward and Cynthia Wilhelm from the ashes of former projects Cursed Eternity started to take shape in the early months of 1997. At the time Black Metal and Goth influenced metal pushed it's way past the Bay-Area Thrash influences already shared by Cynthia and Joe. This broadening of horizon allowed the band to make connections with drummer Justin Hyde and in turn the Lansing area Metal scene.
Members came and went, some stayed for years on end, some were in and out within weeks. With the departure of Justin Hyde and Mike Stith the band was able to coerce Kris Finison and Mike Hudson from the band Somber into joining. At this point the bands true identity started to take hold as songwriting and performance rose to higher levels than ever.
This culminated in the release of 2001's Beyond Reality demo tapes and a series of shows that pushed the band fast and harder. This expansion however locked the band into a constant live performance routine. Focused on playing bigger and better shows, the band failed to release anything further with this line up.
It wasn't until a year long break the band reunited with Mike Parks and recorded their 2004 self titled EP. The CD did well locally and somewhat internationally. The bands foot print on the scene grew larger and the performances became focal point once again. Within 6 months of the release Mike informed the band that he was taking his leave once again. It was almost a year before the band could find a suitable replacement for Mike in Mike Casadei.
Looking to make up for lost time the band quickly tried to get back on the live show wagon again. Putting off the welcoming of new guitarist Shaun Carroll, bassist Jeremy Gillespie and the new Mike on CD. This proved to be a sore point and after two failed recordings of the Cursed Eternity full length CD. This was the beginning of the end, Joe and Dick not wanting to start the cycle over yet again decided to throw the towel in and call it quits.
Cursed Eternity played their final show at the Ogrefest II at Mac's Bar in Lansing, Michigan February 2nd 2008. This performance was a small send off to 10+ years of work and was shared with friends and a small group of true fans.
A one time only reunion show was held at the Zodiac in Toledo Ohio for the Life after Death Fest on January 21st, 2012. The band shared the stage with Forever Lost, Genocya, Blood of the Prophets, Carrion and Terminator one last time. This has ultimately been called "the best Cursed Eternity performance" from those who saw it. Once again the band retreated to is shallow grave with a smile.
